Al Dhaid Dates Festival…innovative youth experiences to transform palm trees into national products

Sharjah, 26 July / WAM / Al Wusta Youth Council held a youth session entitled “From the Palm Tree to the Product: Dialogue, Experience and Innovation” as part of the activities of the tenth session of the Al Dhaid Dates Festival, organized by the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry at the Expo Center Al Dhaid.

The session was attended by His Excellency Abdullah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, His Excellency Dr. Muhammad Abdullah bin Huwaiden, Chairman of the Municipal Council of the City of Dhaid, His Excellency Muhammad Ahmed Amin, Director General of the Sharjah Chamber, along with a number of officials in government departments, and officials of the Federal Authority for Youth Councils.

The session highlighted the journey of the palm tree as an authentic symbol in the UAE’s heritage, and how it can be transformed into a source of creativity and innovation, by reviewing inspiring youth experiences in developing value-added national products, and promoting a culture of entrepreneurship in the agricultural sector.

It discussed the promising opportunities that abound in the agricultural sector, and the role of youth in employing national resources and transforming innovative ideas into projects and products that contribute to supporting the national economy, reflecting the integration between preserving cultural heritage and anticipating a future based on innovation and sustainability.

The festival provides its visitors with the finest types of dates, in addition to a program full of accompanying events aimed at transferring knowledge and supporting local industries. It offers an experience that combines knowledge and heritage entertainment through a series of guidance workshops and awareness seminars presented by experts and specialists on palm care methods and modern harvesting methods, as well as display platforms designated for productive families and national companies to market their innovative products inspired by local heritage, which enhances their role in the economic and social fabric and supports their commercial activity.
