A bullet hits the facade of the US Consulate in Toronto…and Canada is investigating
Declared accident near at dawn on Monday, without recording any injuries, in the second incident of its kind targeting the vicinity of the diplomatic mission within four months.
Deputy Toronto Police Chief, Frank Barredo, said that one of the security personnel assigned to guard the consulate heard gunfire at approximately 4:45 am, noting that one of the bullets hit the facade of the consulate building.

The police explained that it was a white sedan without license plates. A recording showed her leaving the accident site, adding that she was chased before stopping the chase due to the high speed of the vehicle and the threat it posed to public safety.
Security forces cordoned off the area and found bullet casings, confirming that there were no injuries or any suspects identified so far.
The US Consulate expressed its thanks to the Toronto police for their quick response to the accident.
Strengthening security measures around the headquarters Diplomacy
In a related context, the police announced that they were also investigating two shooting incidents that targeted two bakeries belonging to a chain owned by a member of the Jewish community over the weekend.
The Prime Minister of Ontario, Doug Ford, expressed his denunciation of the incidents of shooting and vandalism that Toronto had witnessed in recent days, stressing the need to prosecute those responsible and bring them to justice.
The incident comes after a similar incident witnessed by the US Consulate on March 10. Last, when two gunmen opened fire on the building in an incident that the police described as affecting national security, which prompted the authorities to strengthen security measures around the American and Israeli diplomatic headquarters in the city.
