"Emirates Council for Investors Abroad" Completes its leadership and organizational structure

ABU DHABI, July 28 / WAM / His Excellency Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of Foreign Trade and Chairman of the Emirates Council for Overseas Investors, chaired the second meeting of the Council, where he officially announced the completion of the main leadership structure by naming two Vice-Chairmen of the Board of Directors and a Secretary-General, with the aim of establishing the institutional foundation required to direct and support UAE investments abroad in line with the national economic agenda.

The meeting witnessed the selection of His Excellency Humaid Abdullah Al Shammari, Executive Vice President of the Group and Chief Executive Officer of Corporate Affairs and Human Resources at Mubadala Investment Company “Mubadala,” and His Excellency Yousuf Ali, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Managing Director of Lulu Group International, to fill the positions of Vice-Chairmen of the Council, while His Excellency Abdullah Ahmed Al Suwaidi assumed the position of Secretary General of the Council.

The Council reviewed the organizational structure, agreed to distribute responsibilities among its leadership and operating bodies, and discussed the network of comprehensive economic partnership agreements in the UAE, the commercial opportunities that these agreements provide for Emirati investors, and the mechanisms available to enhance strategic investment partnerships in key markets.

The meeting also discussed the executive plans, implementation mechanisms, and follow-up procedures scheduled to be adopted during the coming period, and discussed investment and commercial opportunities available through priority markets, and practical mechanisms for mobilizing capital and taking advantage of these opportunities in an organized and coordinated manner.

His Excellency Dr. Thani Al-Zeyoudi said that the second meeting of the Council embodies its commitment to continuing to build an institution that works to achieve goals with efficiency and organizational excellence.

He added that, after establishing its leadership structure, the Emirates Council for Overseas Investors is now in a position to take effective measures to connect the UAE investment community to the high-potential global markets and commercial opportunities provided by the UAE’s growing network of comprehensive economic partnership agreements and strategic partnerships, and that the frameworks approved during the meeting will ensure the Council moves from strategy to implementation, with clear responsibilities and a shared focus on advancing the long-term economic interests of the country.

Abdullah Ahmed Al Suwaidi, Secretary-General of the Emirates Council for Overseas Investors, expressed his happiness at assuming this responsibility at a pivotal moment in the Council’s development process, pointing out that the new strategic direction adopted by the Board of Directors provides an important foundation and a promising starting point for continuing the process of achievements, expressing his aspiration to work with the Council team to translate that vision into tangible results for Emirati investors and the national economy as a whole.

The Emirates Council for Investors Abroad was established in 2009 and represents a vital platform for uniting the efforts of the government and private sectors in the country to support Emirati investments abroad.

The Council protects the interests of Emirati companies and investments in more than 90 countries, and works within the framework of its updated tasks to mobilize capital, exchange information about markets, and facilitate foreign investments through a cooperative approach between the government and private sectors.
