"Ports and customs" divorce "Dubai Logistics Academy"

Dubai, December 4, 2017 – The Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation announced today the official launch of the Dubai Logistics Academy and its honoring of strategic partners from logistics companies and the University of Dubai.
Before the end of November, the Corporation celebrated the launch of the Academy, in a ceremony attended by His Excellency Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Chairman of the Board of Directors and CEO of DP World Group and Chairman of the Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation, His Excellency Nasser Al Neyadi, CEO of the Customs and Free Zone Corporation, and His Excellency Dr. Abdullah Busnad, Director General of Dubai Customs, and His Excellency Abdullah bin Zayed Al Falasi, Director General of the Dubai Government Human Resources Department.
Bin Sulayem said that the logistics sector is one of the most important sectors that support economic development and requires many professional expertise to expand and grow. He stressed that the Dubai Logistics Academy will contribute to employing professional expertise in the ports, logistics and commercial services sectors, which supports the empowerment of global trade and enhances Dubai’s pivotal role in Connecting the world’s economies through their effective contribution to the flow of global trade.
In his speech during the celebration, Al Neyadi stressed that the launch of the academy coincides with the transformation we are witnessing in the nature of government work, with the completion of the transition to the digital age and the widest adoption of artificial intelligence in developing government services in general and in the field of logistics and customs services in particular, which requires improving training. Qualifying employees to a more advanced level to provide them with the skills required to deal with the next stages in the development of trade and investment movement and the development of logistical services.
In turn, Busnad stressed that the Dubai Logistics Academy will help develop and build minds according to an innovative academic and professional approach, which was initiated by Dubai Customs within “Path 33”, which included specialized curricula and accredited scholarships, which contributes to achieving the goals of the Dubai Economic Agenda.
He pointed out that global data and the movement of the global economy confirm the steady growth witnessed by the logistics sector, which requires us today to anticipate the future with an innovative vision and create qualitative initiatives that keep pace with this rapid development.
For his part, Al Falasi praised the importance of this strategic step in supporting the Emiratisation file and empowering Emirati cadres as they are the bet of the future.
He explained that the launch of the academy enhances specialized logistical capabilities and competencies, and paves the way for a qualitative shift in this vital sector, which represents an important economic tributary, stressing the importance of moving forward in empowering the human element as a basic pillar of progress and sustainable development.
Al Falasi pointed out that the academy will contribute to consolidating Dubai’s prestigious position as a strategic commercial center.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, the logistics companies and the University of Dubai, strategic partners of Dubai Customs, were honored for their constructive cooperation in launching the academic edifice, which represents an essential pillar for developing and upgrading professional capabilities in promising economic sectors.
