Talaat Harb Club: Women are the main driver in any society

Talaat Harb Club, headed by Hisham Okasha, Chairman of the Club’s Board of Directors, and under the supervision of Sherif Khalil, Executive Director of the Club, organized a symposium entitled “The Role of the Media in Combating Violence against Women.”
< p>Literary critic Dr. Nahid Abdel Hamid, director and founder of the Hanager Cultural Forum at the Ministry of Culture, who moderated the meeting, said that women are the main driver in any society, as they represent the mother and sister. And the wife and daughter. She emphasized that violence is a phenomenon that exists in all societies to which women, men, and children are exposed, and that this phenomenon varies according to the degree of culture in society, and is not related to gender, sexuality, or religion.
For its part, Professor Dr. Suzanne Al-Qalini, former Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Ain Shams University and Chairman of the Information Committee of the National Council for Women, confirmed that there are programs that discuss such an issue through men only, without women’s participation in it.
She indicated that the Council’s Information Committee paid attention to this part and, since 2016, began taking to the streets to reach women in their place, to make them aware of their role and rights, and to work to empower them economically and politically. And informing them of the laws related to them within society. The Council also urges women to appear in an honorable manner in the media, and to show effective and successful models in society and shed light on them in the media and drama. In turn, Dr. Samaa Suleiman, Undersecretary of the Arab, African and Foreign Affairs Committee in the Senate, said that violence against women, from my point of view, involves the woman herself, the man, and society as a whole, pointing out that When building a society, the most qualified individuals must assume positions regardless of whether he is a man or a woman, stressing that the law is capable of changing the culture and violence in society, such as the law increasing the penalty for harassment, the labor law, and the punishment for the marriage of minors. And the punishment of fines, the punishment of female circumcision, and the law of the inheritance problem, which is clearly embodied in the Upper Egypt region, and here comes the important role of the media in informing society of these laws.
For her part, she said Dr. Baraa Jassim, writer and psychological consultant, said that women are smarter than men because they always work to circumvent the difficulties they face, but the man is the woman’s companion, and the West issues ideas and images to us. It does not suit our society, in an attempt to strip women from their true role for which they were created. She added that we must promote the idea of discussing violence in society as a whole, and learn about the true role of both women and men. This must start from a young age in schools, and impose compulsory courses for everyone. From the husband and wife, such as the tests and medical examinations performed before marriage.
The club management presented the gentlemen, the guests of the podium, with the club’s shield in honor and appreciation. For their participation in the symposium, the meeting also included singing performances presented by the artist “Nada Al-Sayed.” Including Oyoun Al Qalb by artist Najat, and other songs by major singing stars in Egypt and the Arab world.
