Abu Dhabi Department of Energy wins the Forward-looking Leadership Award

ABU DHABI, 14 December / WAM / The Department of Energy in Abu Dhabi won the Forward-looking Leadership Award in recognition of its prominent role in developing innovative policies in the field of water reuse, during the awards ceremony held within the framework of the activities of the World Desalination Conference 2024, which was hosted by the Department of Energy – Abu Dhabi.
The department received this prestigious award in recognition of its pioneering efforts and qualitative initiatives in confronting global water challenges.
The ceremony was attended by a number of senior local and international officials in the fields of energy, water, environment and sustainability, in addition to delegations of entities participating in the conference.
The event was an opportunity to celebrate outstanding achievements that are in line with the conference’s mission aimed at encouraging innovative solutions to address the challenges of water scarcity.
His Excellency Engineer Awaida Murshid Al Marar, Chairman of the Department of Energy in Abu Dhabi, confirmed that the Department’s win of the Foresight Leadership Award is a new confirmation of Abu Dhabi’s continued commitment to adopting pioneering sustainable solutions in water management. Fadi Goiz, President of the International Desalination Association, praised the cooperation shown by the conference participants, which formed a pioneering platform for concerted efforts to shape the future of water management worldwide, noting that Abu Dhabi played a prominent role in supporting the conference’s goals.
The Mohammed bin Zayed Water Initiative received the World Desalination Congress Award during the event, confirming its significant contributions to facing global water challenges.
The World Desalination Conference 2024, which was hosted by the Department of Energy in Abu Dhabi under the slogan “Addressing Water Scarcity,” discussed over five days the pressing challenges facing the global water sector, and included discussion sessions that addressed issues of water sustainability and enhancing the ability of water systems to adapt to crises. More than 1,200 specialists from more than 50 countries participated in the conference, making it the largest global gathering of senior officials, policy makers, experts, and innovators in the water desalination and reuse sector.
