Counsel Dr. Hanafi Jabali, Speaker of the House of Representatives, said – In his speech today – regarding the conclusion of discussions on the draft Criminal Procedure Code in principle: " It is In a precedent that may be the first of its kind in the history of the Egyptian Parliament, a unique scene occurred today before us, as the draft “Criminal Procedure Code” was discussed over the course of this unprecedented number of sessions.< /span>
Draft Criminal Procedure Code
The Speaker of the House of Representatives continued: “The Council engaged in extensive deliberations on the draft Criminal Procedure Law in twelve sessions, which reveals the greatness of this project and its profound impact on society, and demonstrates the Council’s great keenness to give it the care and precision appropriate to the reflection of this project on justice and human and citizen rights.” span>
Jbali continued: "And I witnessedCouncil sessions were attended by an unprecedented presence of representatives who presented their opinions in all honesty with a vision that expands to include various intellectual trends and party affiliations".
Speaker of the House of Representatives: "We will proceed with studying the articles of the draft criminal procedure law in depth in the coming sessions, explaining that Discussion of the articles of the draft Code of Criminal Procedure will be sequential according to a pre-prepared division".
Jabali called on the representatives, before submitting any proposals for amendment, to carefully read the texts of the articles of the draft Code of Criminal Procedure carefully, so that the proposals are consistent with the provisions of the Constitution and the standards of justice and compatible with human and citizen rights in the new republic.
