Ajman Police explained, in an awareness publication on social media platforms, that being busy off-road causes five risks on the road, which are fluctuating vehicle speed, failure to adhere to lane limits, lack of a safe distance from the oncoming vehicle, and exceeding road signs and warnings without seeing them. Failure to pay attention to nearby vehicles and pedestrians, and these risks in turn lead to road accidents.

The head of the Traffic and Patrols Department at the Ajman Police General Command, Lieutenant Colonel Fouad Al Khaja, said that being busy off-road is one of the main factors that cause many violations that lead to accidents, especially since there are complex violations committed by some drivers, including not leaving a sufficient safety distance. He added to “Emirates Today” that being busy with the phone while driving also causes a reversing violation without ensuring that the road is clear, pointing out that this violation represents a great danger, due to the driver not looking clearly behind or relying on the car camera only, and this violation occurs. Al Khaja also warned against sudden deviation, which is one of the main reasons for serious accidents, and pointed to other similar violations, including not leaving a safe distance, entering the road without making sure it is clear, and being busy off road.
