المملكة: Saving the lives of 25 patients by donating their organs to 11 brain dead patients

During the past two weeks, the Saudi Center for Organ Transplantation team succeeded in obtaining the consent of the families of 9 brain dead people to donate their relatives’ organs to patients with organ failure, and to cooperate in obtaining a brain dead donation from the United Arab Emirates.
The lives of 8 citizens were saved by a liver transplant, in addition to ending the suffering of 14 kidney failure patients by receiving a kidney transplant.
Restoring the pulse in the bodies of two patients after a heart transplant for each of them, and renewing hope for a patient with a lung transplant.
And also benefit from 4 corneas, transplant them, and improve the lives of other patients.

Bringing joy and life back to patients

11 individuals contributed to restoring joy and life to twenty-five families, demonstrating the cohesion of society and the love of giving and helping others.
These operations were conducted under the supervision of the Saudi Center for Organ Transplantation, and in coordination with King Khalid University Hospital in Riyadh and King Saud Medical City in Riyadh.

King Abdulaziz Medical City of the National Guard in Riyadh and Jeddah, Wadi Al-Dawasir General Hospital, and Dammam Central Hospital.
In addition to Cleveland Hospital Abu Dhabi and Al Qassimi Hospital in Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates.
This is part of the organ exchange program between the Gulf Cooperation Council countries.

Operations according to medical ethics

The Director General of the Saudi Center for Organ Transplantation, Dr. Talal Al-Qufi said that the process of distributing organs took place in accordance with medical ethics, ensuring fair distribution according to the medical priorities of patients.
He pointed out that the achieved success came as a result of joint cooperation between the concerned authorities, praising the efforts made by the Air Medical Evacuation Department in transporting members and medical teams inside and outside the Kingdom.
He expressed his great gratitude to the families of the deceased who chose to donate their organs to these patients, praying to God – Glory be to Him – to reward them with the best reward in this world and the hereafter.
