المملكة: Zero temperatures…a severe cold wave hits Rafha

The severe cold wave that Rafha Governorate, in the northern border region, is witnessing these days, has led to temperatures falling below zero degrees Celsius.
This decrease caused layers of frost to form over the leaves of trees and plants in public parks, giving a cold winter appearance to all parts of the region.
Scenes of frost crystals accumulating on top of the plants appeared, a phenomenon that reflects the cold winter weather witnessed in the region.

Cold air masses

Frost is a weather phenomenon associated with temperatures dropping to zero degrees Celsius or less, as water turns into ice crystals as a result of extreme cold.
Specialists explain that the formation of frost depends on several factors, including: the topography of the land, the height of the area above sea level, the characteristics of the soil, the density of vegetation, as well as the influence of cold air masses.
