US authorities announced that a police officer responding to a report about a man carrying a gun inside a supermarket in North Carolina was shot and killed on Monday, and the suspect was later arrested.
Police confirmed the officer’s death at a press conference in the afternoon, saying that he was responding to a call about an armed person when he was shot before noon today at a store in Greensboro in the center of the eastern US state.
Authorities said they were still investigating the circumstances of the shooting and did not immediately reveal further details about the incident.
