"Sharjah consultant" ..An effective parliamentary model for promoting sustainable development

Sharjah, 1st January / WAM / His Excellency Dr. Abdullah Belhaif Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Advisory Council of the Emirate of Sharjah, said that the Council succeeded during the year 2024 in presenting an effective parliamentary model that reflects the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, which aims to consolidate The culture of community participation and formulation of public policies, in order to achieve the aspirations of the community of the Emirate of Sharjah and promote sustainable development, stressing that the Council is moving forward towards achieving more Achievements that support the vision of the Emirate of Sharjah as an advanced center for parliamentary life and institutional work.

His Excellency appreciated the vital role played by members of the Council and its supporting committees in strengthening the parliamentary work system, pointing out that the fruitful cooperation between the Council and the Government of Sharjah represents the cornerstone for achieving the achievements that make the Emirate of Sharjah an inspiring model of parliamentary life in the region.

For his part, His Excellency Ahmed Saeed Al Jarwan, Secretary General of the Consultative Council of the Emirate of Sharjah, explained that the General Secretariat of the Council worked hard to provide full support for the work of the Council and support the efforts of the Council members, pointing out that these efforts are a reflection of the vision of the Advisory Council in serving the community and contributing to the process of continuous development with Emphasizing the importance of strengthening cooperation between institutions to achieve the ambitious vision of the emirate under the leadership of its sage and pioneer of its renaissance, His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah.

The Council’s achievements for the year 2024 included holding 16 parliamentary sessions during which many topics and issues of importance were discussed, including the approval of 9 new draft laws that dealt with various areas to support legislation in the Emirate of Sharjah. The Council’s work was also characterized by an increase in the volume of interaction by its members, as its sessions witnessed 247 parliamentary interventions. A rich session during which members presented their constructive visions and suggestions.

188 questions were also directed to government representatives, which reflects the Council’s keenness to perform its oversight role in a transparent and professional manner. At the level of general proposals, the Council received 81 proposals from members and the public, in addition to addressing 120 complaints received from citizens and residents, which reflects its great interest in community participation. It was also issued 16 recommendations represent an essential part of the outcome of his work, which were presented to the government to ensure the follow-up and implementation of plans and programs that benefit the emirate and residents of its land.

62 meetings of the Council’s committees were organized and 25 field visits were carried out, with the aim of reviewing the requirements of the various sectors, which enhances the effectiveness of the discussions and decisions that are taken.
