Manchester United hinders Liverpool at Anfield

A positive 2-2 draw decided the summit between Liverpool and Manchester United, on Sunday, in the 20th round of the English Premier League.

After a negative first half between the two teams, the four goals came in the second, and the visitors succeeded in taking the lead in the score by the 52nd minute through the foot of Argentine defender Lisandro Martinez, who shot a powerful ball from inside the area into the top of the narrow corner of Brazilian Alisson Becker’s goal.

Liverpool’s response was not long in coming. After seven minutes, Dutchman Cody Khakbo received a through pass from Argentine Alexis McAllister inside the area, brilliantly dribbled past Matthijs de Ligt, and then shot a powerful ball into the narrow corner of the net.

In the 70th minute, the hosts continued their “remontada” with a second goal, this time scored by Egyptian star Mohamed Salah from a penalty kick, raising his tally to 18 goals, keeping him at the top of the league’s top scorers, with a two-goal difference ahead of Norwegian Erling Haaland.

Manchester United did not surrender to this delay, and they were able to equalize in the 80th minute through the foot of Ivorian Amad Diallo, who translated a cross from the Argentine Alejandro Garnacho with a low shot that passed to the left of Becker.

With this result, Liverpool’s streak of victories in the last 3 rounds ends, and it is their second draw in the last 5 rounds, the fourth in the season.

Despite losing two points, Dutch team Arne Sloat is still at the top with 46 points, 6 points behind its closest rival, Arsenal, with a postponed match against Everton.

On the other hand, the “Red Devils” continued the series of not tasting victory in the league for the fourth match in a row, after 3 consecutive defeats.

Despite this negative number, the Portuguese team, Ruben Amorim, showed great solidity and clear danger to the leaders’ goal, adding their 23rd point, which brings them in 13th place, on goal difference, in front of West Ham United.
