Fuel prices in Germany have risen to their highest level since the summer of 2024

Fuel prices in Germany recorded a noticeable increase within a week, as the German Automobile Club announced that the average daily price of premium E10 gasoline nationwide reached 1.731 euros per liter yesterday, Tuesday, an increase of 3.5 cents compared to the previous week.
The price of diesel also rose by 3.3 cents to 1.663 euros per liter. Thus, fuel prices continue the upward trend witnessed over the past weeks. Just four weeks ago, the price of a liter was about 8 cents cheaper. Thus, fuel prices reached levels similar to what they were in the summer of last year.
The current jump in fuel prices on a weekly basis is primarily due to the increase in the price of carbon dioxide at the beginning of the new year, which was not the case on the comparison day last week (December 31), as this increase contributed to an increase in the price of a liter by about 3 cents.
In addition, the Automobile Club pointed to the rise in crude oil prices compared to last week, which also contributed to the price increase.
