He expressed his pride in reaching the seventh edition, which begins next February with the participation of elite stars, stressing that the success of the tour and its wide spread is the result of collective effort and work throughout the year, in order to emerge in the image that followers from all over the world see.
He said that the Council aspires to develop the event from year to year, by providing all means of success for it, and seeking to highlight the various landmarks of the Emirates throughout its days, to continue its position as a milestone in the history of Emirati and Arab sports, as it is the only world tour approved by the International Federation in the Middle East.
For his part, Italian Fabrizio D’Amico, Director of the UAE Tour, said that the event develops annually thanks to the great support of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council and those responsible for the technical and logistical aspects, which has brought it to the position it deserves among the most prominent international tours.
He pointed out that the success of the event from year to year constitutes a great incentive for those in charge of it to create development ideas at all levels, whether by highlighting new tourist attractions in the Emirates, or the participation of new international riders and stars who have been able to impose themselves on the scene.
Noura Al Jasmi, a member of the Women’s Committee of the International Cycling Council, confirmed that the UAE Tour has reached the pinnacle of success and distinction, as it has become a global icon in cycling and an exceptional event, especially since the Women’s Tour was recently added to it, which played a role in adding more excitement to the event. It contributed to increasing the number of racing days, giving followers a greater opportunity to learn about the most prominent landmarks and regions of the country.
She pointed out that the women’s tour constituted a qualitative leap for cycling in the Emirates, and confirmed the state’s keenness to pay attention to the female component in this aspect, which contributed to encouraging many girls to practice cycling, and acquire new experiences through interaction with female athletes from all over the world during events.
