Esperance passes Djoliba and accompanies Pyramids to the next round in the Champions League

Tunisian giant Esperance clinched its qualification to the quarter-finals of the African Champions League after a 1-0 victory over its host, Djoliba of Mali, in the fifth round of the group stage of the competition.

Elias Mokwana scored the only goal of the match, raising Esperance to 10 points at the top of Group D, ahead of Pyramids on goal difference only.

Thus, Esperance and Pyramids officially qualify for the quarter-finals before the sixth round, which will be decisive only for the struggle for lead in the group.
