Simple differences decided the Al Ain confrontation… and people knew United

United team manager, Mohamed Qasim, confirmed that his team, which is currently playing in the first division “amateur” league, presented a strong and distinguished performance against Al Ain in the semi-final match of the President’s Cup that was held on Sunday, indicating that the confrontation was largely equal, and was decided with minor differences, despite the great effort made by the players, especially in light of facing a large team the size of the Asian champion and one of the most prominent teams in the professional league.

The Al Ain team overcame United 2-0 after an extension for two additional periods in the semi-finals, in a match that witnessed strong competition between the two teams, as United succeeded in keeping pace with Al Ain during most of the match and imposed its rhythm at several times, so that regular time ended in a scoreless draw.

Muhammad Qasim told Emirates Today: “Simple differences are what decided the semi-final match against Al Ain. We congratulate the Al Ain team. We do not forget that we are facing the Asian champion and the best team in the professional league, and the leader of the tournament, and the confrontation against them was strong and needed great focus throughout the match.”

He continued: “For the match against a team the size of Al Ain to reach extra time, I believe that the team succeeded in achieving its goal and performing well, especially since we faced a team with great experience.”

He pointed out that the team presented itself in a distinctive way during the match, saying: “People knew who the United team was, and the players presented a strong level and showed character on the field against a big team. The match was quite equal, but such matches are decided in simple details, and this is what happened in the end to the benefit of Al Ain.”

Regarding the next stage, he said: “All the remaining matches in the first division are finals for us, and there is no room for wasting points.”

He added: “We must work harder during the coming period, and focus more in order to achieve victory and obtain the three points. We hope that we will have a better presence in the next season, but at the present time our focus is on the upcoming matches and working to continue the victories and lead the championship until we ascend to the professional league.”
