Installing 90 smart traps to combat mosquitoes in Sharjah

The Sharjah City Municipality announced the intensification of its campaigns to monitor and investigate public health pests in all areas of the city of Sharjah, in line with its ongoing efforts and ongoing campaigns to combat pests, and provide comprehensive and distinguished services to the city’s residents, including improving health and environmental standards, using various means to reduce the proliferation of pests and mosquitoes.

In this context, the Director of the Health Control and Safety Department, Jamal Al Mazmi, confirmed that the Sharjah City Municipality has installed 90 smart anti-mosquito traps spread across various areas of the city of Sharjah. They have been installed in residential sites, public parks, and others, with the aim of combating mosquitoes and monitoring their activity, to provide a healthy environment for the population. And visitors to public sites and make them free of disease-carrying mosquitoes, which contributes to enhancing the health and safety of community members.

Al-Mazmi explained that smart mosquito traps operate with solar energy around the clock to combat mosquitoes and monitor them permanently to ensure the effectiveness of their work. The concerned teams in the municipality also follow up on these traps through a special system via satellite through trained and qualified specialists, indicating that the municipality is following up on the work of These traps are performed permanently, and if high readings of the spread of mosquitoes are detected, specialized teams are sent to combat them and monitor the site until the infestation is eliminated.

The Director of the Health Control and Safety Department noted that the municipality has established a work mechanism with high standards and scientific systems for control work and has provided full capabilities and specialized cadres, with the aim of strengthening the public health system, preserving the environment, and reducing the damage resulting from the spread of pests or insects, indicating that control work is being carried out. According to comprehensive plans and using modern and advanced equipment and tools, to perform tasks, including traps, mist spraying machines, and ultra-fine mist spraying to treat flying phases.
