Sung Jin explained, “This factory has a special meaning.” For both Geely and the automotive industry in Egypt, as it is the first (CKD) factory for Geely in the Africa and Middle East region, and adopts global manufacturing standards for Geely, and contains the first dual-model flexible production line for sedans and SUVs in Egypt, with the introduction of laser welding processes for the first time. He added: “This factory also represents Geely’s determination to achieve international quality and its commitment to stability in the Egyptian market, through close cooperation with local suppliers.” Pointing out that the company has achieved local development for 14 major automotive components, with a local percentage of more than 45%, and in the future, this percentage will continue to rise.”
In his speech also, the company’s president indicated that “today The first batch of Emgrand and Coolray cars are produced in Egypt, based on the BMA chassis developed by Geely. Both cars have space-efficient use and active and passive safety designs, providing an excellent driving experience for consumers. Egyptians.”
He also explained that he worked at Geely Auto for more than 20 years, saying: “I had nearly 10 years in charge of Emgrand products.. This car is like my children. I have witnessed many moments with it.” The mission, starting from being the sedan champion in China to becoming a global model sold in more than 20 countries, and in 2018 its sales exceeded two million units, and in 2020 its sales exceeded three million, Now local assembly in Egypt will help Emgrand begin its new journey, accelerating to reach a historic moment with sales reaching 4 million units globally.” He added: “As for the Coolray model, it is the model that has entered the most countries of my generation, as it is the car that received the highest percentage of welcome in many countries and regions, and we celebrated the entry of this model into the car club whose sales exceeded one million units globally, and today its assembly began locally in Egypt.” ;.
Before concluding his speech, the company’s president indicated that the Chairman of the Board of Directors, "Li Shufu" He founded Geely Motors at that time with the dream of “making good cars that people can afford, and launching the production of the dual-model CKD project in Egypt is the best explanation of this initial goal, and it is also a serious commitment from us to Egyptian consumers.”
