المملكة: “Shell mushroom” is a transformative product made from dates for the first time in the Kingdom

In a new agricultural achievement, “shell mushrooms” became one of the transformational products of dates, as they were grown for the first time in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Saud Al-Gosaibi, one of those interested in transformative dates, revealed their success in growing “shell mushrooms” from date pits, noting that this type of mushroom is usually grown in Europe and imported to the Kingdom.
He explained that the cultivation process depends on sterilizing date pits and mixing them with mushroom seeds, then placing them in a room with a low temperature and high humidity that mimics the European atmosphere.

Amazing health benefits

Al-Gosaibi confirmed that “shell mushrooms” are characterized by great health benefits, especially because they contain antioxidants, indicating the possibility of using them in salads and various foods, in addition to Asian dishes.

It is noteworthy that “shell mushrooms” are sold in some supermarkets in the Kingdom after being imported from abroad, but their cultivation in the Kingdom is the first of its kind in the Arabian Gulf, and it is expected to contribute to providing this product locally and reducing dependence on imports.
