المملكة: The first in the region.. “Jubail Industrial City” joins a global gathering for sustainability

The Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu announced that Jubail Industrial City has joined the “Transformation towards Sustainable Industrial Clusters” initiative, launched by the World Economic Forum Davos 2025, in cooperation with Accenture and the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI).
This is with the aim of accelerating the process of decarbonisation of industrial clusters and enhancing the balance between economic development and environmental sustainability, in a step that reflects the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s commitment to promoting sustainable development globally.
The agreement was signed during the annual meeting of the forum in Davos, in the presence of His Excellency the President of the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu, Engineer Khaled Al-Salem, and a number of representatives of international organizations.

Universal model

Jubail Industrial City became the first industrial city in the Middle East to join this global initiative, which represents a platform for cooperation between governments, companies and academic institutions to address climate challenges and support the transition to environmentally friendly industrial practices.
Engineer Al-Salem explained that the Royal Commission’s accession to this initiative reflects the commitment of its industrial cities to applying the best global practices in industrial sustainability, thus enhancing its position as a global pioneering model. He pointed out that the initiative aims to stimulate sustainable development in global industrial clusters and promote innovation, which contributes to building… Sustainable industrial cities, consistent with the goals of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.
The initiative highlights the status of Jubail Industrial City as a global model, as it includes advanced infrastructure that includes advanced technologies for recycling 67% of industrial waste, green spaces of more than 4.6 million square meters, and central cooling systems that reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions.
The initiative aims to support the efforts of industrial clusters around the world to reduce or avoid approximately 651 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually, equivalent to Australia’s total annual emissions.

Stimulating the green economy

It also aims to enable industrial cities to reduce carbon emissions, stimulate the green economy, and provide new job opportunities, by adopting innovation and clean technology, through which the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu seeks to provide a global model to be emulated in the management of sustainable industrial cities.
This step comes within the participation of the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu in the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum 2025, in Davos, under the umbrella of the “Saudi House” initiative, in which it reviewed its pioneering vision and achievements through 3 dialogue sessions, which dealt with digital transformation in smart industrial cities, and planning standards. Smart, and the sustainability model in the management of industrial cities, which confirms the Kingdom’s role in leading global efforts towards a more sustainable future.
This step reflects the Royal Commission’s commitment to achieving the goals of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, as it seeks to provide a global model for sustainable industrial cities, with a focus on environmental, economic and social innovation.
