The UAE hosts the seventh edition of the International Rain Enhancement Forum on Tuesday

Abu Dhabi, January 25 / WAM / The National Center of Meteorology and the Emirates Research Program for Rain Enhancement Science have completed all preparations. To organize the seventh edition of the International Rain Enhancement Forum, scheduled to be held next Tuesday, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President of the UAE, Deputy Prime Minister and Head of the Presidential Office, and in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Theyab bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Head of the Presidential Office for Development Affairs and Families. Martyrs.

Alia Al Mazrouei, Director of the Emirates Research Program for Rain Enhancement Sciences, and Director of the Weather Research and Improvement Department at the National Center of Meteorology, confirmed in a special statement to the Emirates News Agency, WAM, that the forum, which will be held from January 28 to 30, in Abu Dhabi, reflects the UAE’s commitment. By innovating and enhancing international cooperation to confront water challenges, which enhances the country’s role as a global center of excellence in the field of weather and rain enhancement sciences.

She added that the forum aims to provide a prominent global platform to discuss the latest scientific and technological developments in rain enhancement research, with a focus on addressing the challenges of water scarcity. It is also an opportunity for scientists and experts to present their research achievements that contribute to improving the effectiveness of rain enhancement operations, which supports efforts to enhance water security globally.

She pointed out that this year’s edition celebrates the 10th anniversary of the launch of the Emirates Research Program for Rain Enhancement Science, and will witness the honoring of personalities and institutions that contributed to the success of the program, in addition to the launch of the sixth cycle of program grants, while opening the way for students and young researchers to showcase their innovative projects.

She added that the forum contributes to strengthening the UAE’s position as a global center for advanced research in the field of rain enhancement. It brings together the most prominent experts, specialists and decision-makers from different parts of the world to discuss issues related to water security and weather modification research, especially since it has become a global event within water sustainability discussions, thanks to its focus on advanced research and innovative technology, which has strengthened the UAE’s position as a leading country in the field of climate and scientific research. .

She indicated that the forum’s sessions will focus on five main axes: “cooperation, innovation, capacity building, artificial intelligence, and applied research,” in addition to other topics such as water security at the regional and global levels, developing new materials for cloud seeding, and using drones in weather modification research, in addition to To new methods of cloud formation and local climate interventions.

She noted that the forum will witness the attendance of prominent speakers from the UAE and other countries such as the United States, the United Kingdom, India, China, and Russia, as well as the participation of the World Meteorological Organization, the World Water Council, Khalifa University, and the Institute of Technological Innovation.

Al Mazrouei stressed that the rain enhancement research program contributes to the development of innovative technologies to enhance water security by integrating advanced technologies such as “nanotechnology to develop new pollination materials,” “drones to reduce costs and increase the efficiency of operations,” and “machine learning systems to improve weather forecasts and guide… Accurate drafting,” in addition to “thermal energy systems to stimulate updrafts.”

She explained that despite the technical and logistical challenges such as changing weather conditions and the lack of resources in some countries, modern innovations increase the effectiveness of operations, stressing the program’s keenness to cooperate with global institutions to develop new technologies and achieve greater sustainability.

Regarding the role of artificial intelligence and big data in improving rain seeding operations, she said that artificial intelligence helps improve the accuracy of weather forecasts and reduce the waste of resources by using weather data analysis algorithms, while big data helps in understanding weather patterns and improving rain seeding decisions.

She added that cloud seeding operations are an effective tool to enhance rainfall in arid regions, which reduces pressure on traditional water resources, and also contributes to mitigating the effects of climate change by providing sustainable solutions for water resource management.

She stressed the UAE’s commitment to periodically evaluate the environmental impact of rain seeding operations. Environmentally friendly materials are used based on natural salts such as potassium chloride and sodium chloride, which are produced in the “Emirates Weather Improvement Factory”, with the latest scientific standards to ensure the sustainability of operations without harming the environment.
