Ukraine is ready to transport gas from Azerbaijan to Europe

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that his country is ready to transport natural gas from Azerbaijan to Europe.
He explained that he could sign a contract quickly if an agreement was reached, Bloomberg News reported on Saturday.

Gas transportation to Europe

“We can use our infrastructure” to transport gas from Azerbaijan, Zelensky told reporters in Kiev, after meeting Moldova’s President Maia Sandu to discuss a crisis in the neighboring country.
He continued: “We can sign a contract quickly if there is political will.”
The flow of Russian gas to Europe through Ukraine stopped this month, after the expiration of a long-term transportation contract and Kiev’s closure of a route that had been operating for five decades.

Pipeline “Turkstream”

Russia accused Ukraine of launching a drone attack on a gas distribution station belonging to, the only one available for transporting Russian gas to Europe.
This came after the cessation of transport operations through Ukrainian territory on January 1 and the sabotage of the Nord Stream line in 2022.
