Sharjah, January 29 / WAM / The Sharjah Complex for Research and Technology continues its efforts in enhancing the position of the Emirate of Sharjah as a global center for innovation and sustainability through effective contribution to raising the frequency of investment with advanced technology and scientific research to develop sustainable solutions that serve society and the local economy.

The complex contributes an effective support to the knowledge -based economy in the Emirate of Sharjah, by creating an innovative environment that combines academic research and practical applications in vital areas such as health care, transportation techniques, sustainability, and added manufacturing.

The complex works to develop innovative technologies in areas such as renewable energy and resource management, as well as projects in green hydrogen and smart agriculture research, as well as projects for desalination and water treatment, which enhances the sustainability of the environment and the quality of life.

Jumaa Al -Hajj, Director of Strategic Communication and Marketing Department at the Sharjah Research, Technology and Innovation Complex, stressed in a statement to Emirates News Agency, WAM, that the complex is constantly seeking to support the knowledge -based economy, by creating an innovative environment that combines academic research and practical applications in areas Vitality such as health care, transportation techniques, sustainability, and added manufacturing.

He said, the complex has achieved many important achievements over the past years, and has become home to more than 8,500 companies operating in the fields of innovation and technology, indicating that the focus focuses on strengthening 4 main sectors: health care, sustainability, transportation technologies, and added manufacturing.

He added that the complex aspires in the future to increase cooperation with startups and universities, as well as increasing investments in projects that support the sustainable economy.

He stressed that the complex works as a link between academic research and the industry sector, as it provides an advanced infrastructure that includes modern laboratories and facilities to support researchers and companies in developing innovative technologies, and continues to support digital transformation through pioneering projects in areas such as artificial intelligence and huge data, which contributes to promoting Sharjah’s position as a global center for innovation in these technical fields.

He explained that the complex is in the process of implementing several strategic projects, most notably cooperation with local and international companies to develop innovative solutions in the fields of health care and sustainability, such as the project of investing the “Hathmour Piccal” company in the field of huge data.

Al -Hajj highlighted the role of the complex in promoting the culture of scientific research and innovation among young people in Sharjah through specialized programs such as the “accelerator program” that supports startups, and the “deal program” that helps to convert students’ ideas into successful commercial projects.

He pointed out that the complex continues to enhance cooperation between the academic and industrial sectors, through joint projects with local universities, such as the American University in Sharjah, including areas such as reinforced concrete, 3D printing and green hydrogen research.

He stressed that the complex continues to work to develop its infrastructure through the establishment of specialized research centers and modern facilities to support startups and researchers, and that these projects are expected to be completed this year.

It is noteworthy that the complex intends to organize events, exhibitions, and educational and training conferences directed to young people and researchers, with the aim of increasing awareness about the importance of scientific research and innovation, which enhances its position as a global center for research and development.
