An American researcher praises the UAE’s efforts to harness scientific research to face the global water crisis

Abu Dhabi, January 29/ WAM/ Hakimwarwar, the American researcher and senior consultant in environmental science and sustainability at the University of Georgetown, praised the UAE’s efforts in harnessing science and scientific research to confront the global water crisis, expressing her hope to continue international cooperation to provide innovative solutions to this urgent issue.

Hakimdwar said, in statements to the Emirates News Agency “WAM” that the scarcity of water has become a global crisis that goes beyond the geographical borders of arid regions to affect other areas that were not expected to face similar challenges.

She explained that this crisis requires integrated solutions that must be provided to decision makers in various countries to help them overcome the problem of water scarcity that affects global water security.

Hakimdar praised the program to enhance rainfall in the Emirates, considering that the integration of scientific research with practical applications is an essential element in developing sustainable solutions to face water challenges, expressing its admiration for this advanced model that the UAE follows.

She also expressed her great admiration for the International Model Forum (IREF), stressing that her first attendance of this event gave her the opportunity to learn and interact with the various research specializations that were addressed, which contributes to enhancing scientific cooperation between researchers and decision -makers to develop innovative solutions to address the water scarcity crisis.

Regarding the global efforts to solve the problem of water scarcity, Hakim Dawwar indicated that the world’s interest in water issues has witnessed a great development in recent years, pointing out that the COP16 conference, hosted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, witnessed the announcement of the UAE hosting the United Nations Water Conference in 2026, which reflects The UAE’s commitment to strengthening global dialogue on water issues.

She praised the attention received by the water issue at the “COP28” conference in Dubai, in which the water was included as a major element within the global climate agenda, which resulted in positive results aimed at promoting the sustainability of water resources in the future.
