المملكة: “Food and Drug” discuss ways to enhance cooperation with the European Union

The CEO of the General Food and Drug Authority, Prof. Hisham bin Saad Al -Jedi, met today, at the headquarters of the European Foreign Labor in the Belgian capital, Brussels, at the Special Envoy of the European Union for the Arab Gulf region, Luigi de Mayo.
They discussed ways to enhance cooperation between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the European Union in the fields related to the work of the authority.

Product safety guarantee

Al -Jedai also met during his visit to the European Commission, the Director General of the General Directorate of Trade, Dr. Sabine Fine, to discuss the mechanisms of promoting trade exchange between the two sides, and the development of areas of joint cooperation to ensure the safety of the traded products.
The meetings witnessed the presence of the Ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to the European Union, Haifa Al -Jadeea, along with the accompanying delegation to His Excellency.

During the talks, the initiatives implemented by the authority were reviewed to support investments in the relevant sectors, and to emphasize the importance of strengthening the partnership with the European Union to achieve common goals in food safety, medicine and medical products.

Saudi -European relations

These meetings come within the framework of the continuous efforts to enhance trade cooperation, which recently resulted in the commission’s announcement of lifting the ban on cows and sheep and its products from the European Union countries.
What reflects progress in negotiations and commitment to seeking to facilitate trade and ensure the safety of mutual products between the Kingdom and the European Union countries.
