"Archive and the National Library "and"Identity and nationality" They enhance cooperation in the field of preserving the authority’s archive and its historical memory

Abu Dhabi, March 15 / WAM / Research of the Archives and the National Library with the Federal Authority for Identity, Nationality, Customs and Ports Security are ways to enhance joint cooperation in the project of preserving documents and historical records related to the history of the authority and its historical career full of achievements, and highlighting its pivotal role in promoting national development, and preserving everything related to it such as the history of passports and identity cards, documents and ancient files related to the history of the Emirates.
This came during the visit by the delegation of the commission headed by His Excellency Major General Suhail Jumaa Al -Khaili, the Acting Director General of Nationality for the Archive headquarters and the National Library in Abu Dhabi, in the framework of the commission’s launching its qualitative project to support the process of preserving documents and enhancing the archiving processes, especially the historical narration of the package of the holdings and tools used in the various operations and services of the authority.
The delegation of the commission in the joint meeting, which was held within the visit, reviewed the goals of the project to preserve the history of the commission, its work plan, its organizational structure, its initial work plan, and the mechanisms of cooperation between the two sides in the field of exchange of documents and information.
The delegation of the commission presented examples of historical documents and discussed with the archive and the national library the extent of the possibility of cooperation to obtain the oral history included in the authority of the authority, and the possibility of restoring historical documents in a way that guarantees their sustainability for future generations.
On his part, the archive and the national library reviewed the basic legal requirements for organizing archives in the country and in the light of the diagnostic visits made by the archive experts and the national library to the archive of the commission. The current situation of the archive, roles and work mechanisms were explained, and the recommendations of the next stage, based on what the authority’s archives achieved in terms of establishing an organizational unit for the archive, qualifying employees, preparing archive policies, preparing work procedures,, The plan to save the files, organize the archive in the saving sites, and prepare an archive hall.
The archive and the national library, during the meeting, shed light on the roles and responsibilities in the archive of the authority, the roles and responsibilities of the employees of the government agency, starting with leaders, then those responsible for organizing documents and the archive, legal, and those responsible for information technology, strategic planning and ending with employees.
The archive and the national library explained the ways to benefit from the digital archive platform of the Arabian Gulf AGDA, which is a major source of the original written documents and historical images documented by many events related to the history of the Arab Gulf region in general and the United Arab Emirates in particular.
The visit included a tour of the authority’s delegation in the Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Hall, which is an innovative museum experience that embraces the past, documents today, and looks at the future, and for this, it harnesses the latest innovative technologies and methods of presentation to present visitors a “cognitive capsule” that enhances belonging to the homeland and loyalty to its rational leadership, and rooting the national identity in the hearts of generations, and dazzling its visitors with the progress and prosperity achieved by the UAE.
The delegation also inspected the Sheikh Sorour bin Muhammad hall, which provides an important page from the history of the state that reveals the efforts of one of its men who have their immortal fingerprints, as it contains a biography of His Highness Sheikh Sururben Muhammad Al Nahyan and the most important positions that he held in the period from 1966 – 2003 AD and displays documentaries in which His Highness tells about his companionship to the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, “May God bless him” during the UAE’s renaissance And its prosperity, and praises the crushing march of the state under its wise leadership, and the hall reviews some of his possessions.
