Low carbon desalination is an essential pillar in our national strategy

The Minister of Climate Change and Environment, Dr. Amna bint Abdullah Al -Dahhak, said: With our celebration of the International Water Day, we stand a moment of meditation in what this vital resource constitutes great importance, as it is the lifeblood of our planet where today 2.2 billion people – that is, one in four – in the world, suffers from deprivation of clean and safe water. She added: This fact requires us to enhance our commitment to the sustainable water management and work to ensure a sustainable water future for all. “

“Low carbon desalination is a basic pillar in our national strategy, as we give priority to the sustainable reverse osmosis technology. And as an affirmation of this commitment, Abu Dhabi hosts the Touette Station for reverse osmosis – which is part of the long complex of water and electricity and will become the largest opposite osger facility in the world when it operates completely, with the goal of reaching 90% of the production of desalinated water With this technology, by 2030. In line with this ambition, the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority aims to produce 100% of desalinated water from a mixture of clean energy that combines renewable energy sources and heat wasted by the same year.
Dr. Al -Dahhak indicated that the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment leads advanced agricultural technology projects to reduce water consumption in strategic ways, which enhances an integrated method of water security.
