The number of victims of forest fires in the Republic of South Korea has risen to 56, and caused 37,185 people displaced.

The Korean News Agency “Yonhap” reported that the northern Gyengang region was the most damaged, with 22 deaths, 3 serious injuries, and 16 minor injuries.

In the southern region of Ghayongang, 4 deaths, 5 serious injuries, 4 minor injuries were recorded, and in Ulsan, two slight injuries were recorded.

She pointed out that the fire extinguishing work is still ongoing in 10 locations, while the damaged forest area reached 36,009 hectares, which exceeds more than 10 thousand hectares of the damaged area of ​​the worst forest fires in Korea’s history, which occurred on the eastern coast in 2000 and reached 23,794 hectares.

She said that although a week has passed since the outbreak of forest fires, extinguishing work has not made great progress yet.
