The unemployment rate for Saudis decreased to 7% by the end of the fourth quarter of 2024

The General Authority for Statistics revealed that the unemployment rate between Saudis (males and females is 15 years or more) to reach 7% in the fourth quarter of 2024, compared to 7.8% in the same period from 2023.
Today, the General Authority for Statistics issued statistics for the labor market for the fourth quarter 2024.

Reduced unemployment rate

According to the results of the bulletin, the total population of (Saudis and non -Saudis 15 years or more) decreased to 3.5%.
The unemployment rate for the total male population was 2%and females 10.4%, while the rate of Saudi women’s participation in the workforce increased compared to the same period from 2023 to 36.0%.

The unemployment rate for Saudi women decreased

The results of the newsletter showed that the unemployment rate for the male Saudis reached 4.3%, while the unemployment rate for Saudi women decreased to 11.9% in the fourth quarter of 2024 compared to 13.6% in the previous quarter of the same year.
The rate of participation in the workforce of the total population (Saudis and non -Saudis 15 years or more) reached 66.4%, and the rate of participation in the workforce of the total male population is 83.6%.

Causes of low unemployment

The low unemployment rates are due to the rise in the average workers of the Saudi population, driven by the strong and advanced performance of the labor market.
This improvement is mainly due to the increase in the average workers of the Saudi population to 47.5 %, an increase of 1.0 % compared to the similar quarter of 2023.
The average Saudi female workers increased and reached 31.8 %, registering an increase of 1.7 % on an annual basis.
This improvement comes as a result of effective policies in developing the labor market, enhancing the employment environment and supporting the enabling initiatives of women, which contributed to increasing their economic participation and enhancing their role in advancing growth and sustainable development.
The results of the bulletin showed that the rate of participation in the workforce of the total female population (15 years and more) reached 33.5%.
The rate of participation in the workforce of the Saudi population was 51.1%, while the participation rate in the workforce of the male Saudis recorded 66.2%and the workforce of Saudi women 36%.
The results of the newsletter stated that the average workers to the population of work age (Saudis and non -Saudis 15 years or more) reached 64% and the rate of workers to the population of the age of work for the total male population reached 81.9%.
The average workers to the population of the age of the age of the female population reached 30%, while the average workers to the population of the age of the Saudi population (males and females 15 years or more) recorded 47.5%, the rate of workers to the population of the age of working for the male Saudis is 63.4% and the rate of workers to the population of the age of work for Saudi women 31.8%.
It is noteworthy that the General Authority for Statistics approved the population estimates based on the results of the Saudi population 2022 AD from the first quarter of 2024 AD onwards.
The labor market bulletin includes the main indicators of labor market statistics based on the workforce survey, in addition to statistics on the number of subscribers based on administrative data issued by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, the General Organization for Social Insurance, and the National Information Center.
