Dubai Marine concludes the Dubai Fishing Championship with Emirati excellence

The Dubai International Marine Sports Club concluded the competitions of the first round of the Dubai Fishing Championship, after four continuous days of strong competition, as the event attracted more than 135 fishermen, including two women, of various nationalities, in the largest gathering of its kind for this type of fishing specializing in fishing for the categories of kingfish and kingfish, with financial prizes amounting to 195 thousand dirhams in addition to other in-kind prizes.
The competitions were held at the club’s headquarters in Dubai Harbour, with great competition and outstanding commitment to the rules from the participants, which enhanced the sportsmanship and gathering on this wonderful sporting occasion, before the coronation ceremony was held on the closing day, in the presence of the Director of the Sports Affairs Department at the Dubai International Marine Club, Mohammed Al Marri, the representative of the Abu Dhabi Civil Defense Authority, Brigadier General Raed Ali Al Muhairi, from the Sayaf Marine Foundation, Khalifa Al Hammadi, and from the Delma Marine Foundation, Ayoub Al Khaja.
In terms of results, Emirati excellence came in the first three places in both categories. Khalfan Rashid Al-Zeyoudi achieved first place in the kingfish competition, by catching a fish weighing 35 kg and a length of 161 cm. Omar Ahmed Al-Shamsi came in second place with a fish weighing 29.85 kg and a length of 149 cm, while Salem Rashid Al-Zeyoudi came in third place with a fish weighing 26.95 kg and a length. 150 cm.
In the scallop category, Ali Saeed Al Mazrouei achieved first place, by catching a fish weighing 26.95 kg and a length of 130 cm, followed by Mubarak Salem Al Mansouri with a fish weighing 25.90 kg and a length of 125 cm, and Hamad Abdullah Ali came in third place with a fish weighing 17 kg and a length of 109.
Executive Director of the Dubai International Marine Sports Club, Mohammed Al Marri, confirmed the continuation of the initiative to donate all the quantities of fish caught, which amounted to about 400 kg, to the Beit Al Khair Association, to support the efforts of the “Food for All” project, which is a humanitarian project that aims to provide meals rich in nutrients to be distributed as charity to support the category of workers residing in the country.
Al Marri explained that the size, weight and general health of the fish reflects the great efforts made by the state in caring for and preserving marine life and all marine creatures, specifically these types of fish, which is what makes fishermen succeed in the first place in finding these fish in the Dubai Sea, which is distinguished by its kind in the world, in addition to the skills possessed by these experienced fishermen, which made us live daily in an enthusiastic atmosphere awaiting the results according to the fish submitted by each fisherman, and with it the excitement and anticipation rose until the last moments of the closing day.
Al Marri expressed his appreciation for the efforts of participating fishing enthusiasts, citizens, residents, and visitors to the country of various nationalities, to adhere to safety standards and adhere to the places designated for fishing, and this stems from the great community awareness of the importance of preserving the marine environment and caring for it as a shared responsibility of all.
Financial prizes amounting to 195,000 dirhams are distributed, with 140,000 dirhams presented to the first ten place holders in the kingfish category, and 30,000 dirhams to the first three place holders in the seashell category. In addition to the financial prizes offered by the club, an amount of 25,000 dirhams is given to the kingfish season champion presented by Delma Marine, while Sayyaf Marine provides fishing rods to the first three place holders in the two categories, and in-kind discounts for the rest of the winners.
On the other hand, the Dubai International Marine Sports Club announced that February 13 was the date for holding the second round of the Dubai Kayak Fishing Competition on Jebel Ali Beach in Dubai.
