Arsenal loses Gabriel until the end of the season

Arsenal suffered a great setback before his expected confrontation against Real Madrid in the quarter -finals of the UEFA Champions League, after confirming the absence of his Brazilian defender Gabriel from the remaining period of the season.

Guners said Thursday that the 27-year-old defender will need surgery in the knee strings, against the backdrop of an injury he suffered during his team’s victory over Fulham 2-1 in the league on Tuesday.

Gabriel, who is one of the defensive pillars of the team in recent seasons, was injured in the sixteenth minute at the Emirates Stadium, and was unable to complete the meeting.

Arsenal will host his Real Madrid counterpart in the first leg from the quarter -finals before the second leg match will be held.

“After replacing it during our match against Fulham on Tuesday, we can confirm that Gabriel Maghalis was injured in the knee strings that require surgery,” Arsenal said in a statement.

He continued, “Gabi will undergo surgery in the knee strings in the coming days, and the recovery and rehabilitation program will start immediately, with the aim of being ready for the beginning of the next season.”

The London team has the best defense in the league this season, after receiving 25 goals in 30 games.

However, it is second in the standings, 12 points behind Liverpool flying in the lead eight games at the end of the league.
