The Family Minister leads the state delegation to the 69th session of the United Nations Committee on the status of women

New York, April 4/ WAM/ His Excellency Sana Bint Mohammed Suhail, Minister of Family, the UAE delegation, headed to the sixty -ninth session of the United Nations Committee on Women’s Status, whose discussions focused on reviewing and evaluating the implementation of the Beijing advertisement and curriculum, in addition to the results of the twenty -third extraordinary session of the General Assembly on balance and gender equality, development and peace in the twenty -first century.
The UAE delegation included His Excellency Noura Al -Suwaidi, Secretary -General of the General Women’s Union, His Excellency Reem Al Falasi, Secretary -General of the Supreme Council for Motherhood, Lt. Col. Dana Hamid Al Marzouki, Director General of the International Affairs Office in the Ministry of Interior, His Excellency Hanan Al Ahly, Director of the Federal Center for Competitiveness and Statistics, and Dr. Mohammed Al -Kuwaiti, Chairman of the Cyber ​​Security Council of the UAE government.
His Excellency Sanaa Bint Mohammed Suhail brought the UAE statement in front of the 69th session of the Women’s Place, where her Excellency highlighted the progress made over the past thirty years in the field of promoting women and girls, enhancing their rights and protecting them around the world.
She said that the international community should be more than ever, to continue to fulfill its promises in Beijing previously and in the future.
Her Excellency also participated in the round table at the ministerial level on the national mechanisms concerned with balance and gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls, as the ministers were involved in the dialogue about the exchange of experiences, lessons learned and best practices, with a focus on the basic strategies and priorities to accomplish more work and address gaps and challenges.
His Excellency Suhail shed light on the discussion of the UAE’s efforts to empower women economically and their full, effective and targeted participation in all sectors.

In this context, its Excellency clarified that the UAE has adopted the system of job shares in the public and private sectors, including allocating at least one seat for women in the boards of public and private joint stock companies to ensure the gender equivalence, and the full, equal and targeted participation of women in society and at all levels, noting that it is important to enhance the economic integration of women to support their role in decision -making and leadership operations in different The sides.
On the sidelines of the sixty -ninth session of the Women’s Status Committee, His Excellency Suhail held a series of bilateral meetings, where her Excellency met with Dr. Maymouna Al Khalil, Secretary General of the Family Affairs Council in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and Dr. Katrina Livchanko, the government’s gender policy deputy in Ukraine.
The UAE – represented by the Ministry of Interior – launched on the sidelines of the event at the United Nations headquarters an exhibition entitled: “Mother of the Emirates” in honor of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak “Mother of the Emirates”, President of the General Women’s Union, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, Supreme President of the Family Development Foundation, and a review of the state’s march in the advancement of women and girls as a basic pillar of peace, prosperity, security and sustainable development.
In a related context, the Ministry of Interior and the Federal Center for Competitiveness and Statistics hosted a side effectiveness entitled: “Leadership with Lighthots by Borders: Strategies to Combat Violence and Digital Violence against Women.”
This event also witnessed the launch of a report on the “organizational and preventive model of the UAE to combat digital violence and violence against women and girls”, which presents the details of organizational frameworks, preventive measures and strategic initiatives adopted by the state to combat digital violence and protect women and girls.
For its part, His Excellency Noura Al -Suwaidi participated in the side event organized by the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf under the title: “Women and Technology: Inspiring Stories in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries”, where her happiness shed light on the efforts of the UAE in order to empower women and girls in the fields of technology and innovation, and on the leading initiatives that facilitate their leadership in the areas of artificial intelligence, space and entrepreneurship.
Likewise, the UAE joined Jordan, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, Egypt, the Sultanate of Oman, Morocco and the United Nations Women in sponsoring a side event on “the role of national strategies and collective efforts in promoting the economic empowerment of women in the Middle East, North Africa and the Gulf states.”

During the event, Al -Suwaidi affirmed the UAE’s steadfast commitment to breaking barriers and enhancing the economic progress of women in all sectors.
In partnership with China, Cuba, Saudi Arabia, Zambia, the United Nations Women, and the United Nations Population Fund, the UAE entitled: “Technology and Empowerment of Women: Perspective and Practicing the Southern Southern Countries.”

His Excellency Hanan Ahly stressed during this event the UAE’s commitment to benefit from technology to fill digital gaps, and expand the scope of full, equal and targeted participation of women in the fields of science, technology, engineering, mathematics, entrepreneurship, ensuring access to financing, digital safety, through policy, innovation, and global cooperation.
His Excellency Al -Ahly participated in a round table held by the World Bank entitled: “The Future of Care: Investing in Entrepreneurs to provide widespread care solutions.”

Her Excellency affirmed the UAE’s commitment to empowering women and girls by investing in women -led care institutions, strengthening partnerships between the public and private sectors, and integrating the principles of gender equality to improve national competitiveness, and benefit from technology to create a more comprehensive and flexible economy.
