UAE and Turkey hold the second meeting of the joint economic and commercial committee in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi, April 8/ WAM/ The United Arab Emirates and the Turkish Republic held yesterday the second session of the joint economic and commercial committee “Jetco” in Abu Dhabi, which was a continuation of the success achieved by the first session, which was held in Istanbul in 2023.
The meeting aims to develop trade and economic relations between the two countries, and to support the goals of the comprehensive economic partnership agreement “CEPA”, which has entered into force since the first of September 2023.
The meeting, which was chaired by His Excellency Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al -Zyoudi, Minister of State for Foreign Trade, and Omar Bilat, Minister of Trade in Turkey, praised the great progress, which witnessed the Emirati -Turkish relations after the implementation of the comprehensive economic partnership agreement and the first meeting of the joint economic and commercial committee.
The two sides expressed their optimism about the ability of the two countries to develop and enhance bilateral relations in various fields, in a way that serves common interests and supports ties between the UAE and Turkey.
The committee’s meetings, His Excellency Said Thani Harib Al Dhaheri, Ambassador of the State to the Turkish Republic, and His Excellency Juma Muhammad Al -Kate, Assistant Undersecretary for International Trade Affairs at the UAE Ministry of Economy.
During the session, talks included sectors such as trade and commercial finance, investment, green economics, services, advanced technology and industry, customs, and cooperation in joint projects in developing countries.
His Excellency Dr. Thani Al -Zyoudi said: “The joint economic and commercial committee is a cornerstone of our strategy to upgrade economic relations between the UAE and Turkey, and by benefiting from this platform, we can define the most important opportunities for our exporters, enhance investment in priority sectors, and build a flexible framework for sustainable growth.”
He added that the cooperation between the two sides contributed within the framework of the comprehensive economic partnership agreement for impressive results, in terms of the growth of non -oil bilateral trade by three times since 2021, stressing that it is committed to deepening that partnership to unleash more capabilities.
During the high -level meeting, which followed the joint economic and commercial committee meeting, His Excellency stressed the importance of the role of the private sector in enhancing economic relations between the two countries, saying: “We have a great opportunity to increase trade flows and investment activities between the business community in the UAE and Turkey, and the comprehensive economic partnership agreement has opened the doors to these opportunities, but the interaction of the private sector and the initiative’s spirit is what will guarantee us to continue to benefit from.”
These meetings are essential to understand the available opportunities and how to invest them in the best way.
His Excellency Omar Bilat said: “Through our meeting today, we have taken important steps to enhance bilateral relations and achieve economic prosperity due to mutual benefit to our two countries and our people.”
His Excellency stressed that the UAE will remain one of the most important economic partnerships of Turkey in the region, noting that Turkish companies have implemented 149 projects in the UAE with a total value of 17.7 billion US dollars, which puts this strategic cooperation in the tenth place globally in terms of the number of projects implemented by Turkish companies.
In line with the main goals of the joint economic and commercial committee, the session also witnessed the opening meeting of the joint committee of the comprehensive economic partnership agreement between the UAE and Turkey.
The focus has been on the evaluation of the impact of the agreement so far, the exchange of data and experiences, the review of issues related to implementation, in addition to improving customs tariffs, and making recommendations with the necessary amendments.
The records of the ministerial meeting were also signed for both the joint committee meeting and the meeting of the Economic and Commercial Committee by His Excellency Dr. Thani Al -Zyoudi and His Excellency Omar Bilat.
The meetings in Abu Dhabi reflect the strong ties between the UAE and Turkey, which have witnessed in recent years joint economic cooperation in high -growth dynamic sectors, such as financial services, agriculture, logistics, transportation, and tourism.
