A new biological material that treats oil spills in water and sandy soil

Siberia Federal University has revealed its innovation of a new vital material that addresses oil spills in sandy areas and on water bodies.
The Russian researchers conducted field tests on this substance in the southwest Krasnodar region.

“Innovative technology aims to address the effects of emergency and its products on sandy beaches and water bodies,” said the researcher participating in the Department of Fuel and Lubricants at the University of Siberia, Maria Kovalouva.
“The biological materials are characterized by high absorption rates, and combine physical and microbiological cleaning mechanisms, and not causing secondary pollution, as the material is completely biological decomposing after performing its function.”
