185 tremors hitting Istanbul after the Wednesday earthquake

Istanbul witnessed a series of earthquakes today, Thursday, as the Turkish Disaster Management Agency announced that new tremors occurred, one by 4.6 degrees on the Richter scale.

The shocks come after an earthquake of 6.2 degrees on Maqyar Richter yesterday, Wednesday, in the Sea of ​​Marmara, off the largest Turkish cities, followed by more than 185 apostasy tremors whose strength ranged between 4 and 5 degrees.

The Minister of Health, Kamal Mamishoglu, said on the “X” platform that 236 people were injured, including 173 people in Istanbul. 15 people received treatment in the hospital, while some were injured as a result of jumping a dismay from the buildings.

The Minister of Urban Development, Murad Korum, said that 12 buildings were evacuated as a precaution.

Turkish media quoted earthquake and geologists as saying that a large earthquake is still expected. Although the timing is still unknown, experts expect that its strength will reach 7.4 degrees on the Richter scale, while some estimated its expected power to 7.7 degrees on the Richter scale.

Many residents of the city fled for fear of a larger earthquake, as hotels on the Aegean coast recorded a significant increase in reservations.

The German news agency correspondent reported that flights from Istanbul to other cities in Türkiye stopped the evening of the earthquake and today, Thursday, and the websites of airlines showed that all flights were fully reserved.
