المملكة: The Ministry of Communications celebrates the distinction of Saudi women in technology and innovation

The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology celebrated the distinction of Saudi women in the technical sector, coinciding with the International Day of Girls in the field of information and communications technology, renewing their commitment to empowering women and enhancing their participation in drawing the features of the digital future of the Kingdom.
The event, which was held at the Ministry’s headquarters in Riyadh, witnessed an inspiring presence of a group of digital leaders and young women’s talents from various sectors, as well as students from universities and digital academies, a winner of international competitions, business leaders, institutions for a start -up technical company, and a number of associations from the non -profit sector.

Women’s competencies

On this occasion, the chief adviser to the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, Noura Al -Zaid, said: “We are proud of Saudi women’s competencies in the technical sector, and with the support and empowerment of the rational leadership, they are authentic partners in building the smart era and the digital economy,” noting the progress achieved by the Kingdom in the participation of women in the technology sector from 7% in the year 2018 to 35% today and it is the highest in the region, and higher than the average group of the twentieth and European Union.
In a motivational speech during the event, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Futures and Future Capacity, Safa Al -Rashed, confirmed that supporting women in the fields of technology is not an option, but rather a real investment in the national economy, and said: “We are in a race of efficiency, productivity and competitiveness, and empowering women is a pillar of excellence and leadership.”
She praised the technical talents of girls in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, stressing that the ministry seeks to achieve the competitiveness of women in technology not only to compete locally, but to be global influences with their achievements, skills, confidence and ambitious vision.

Inspiring success stories

The event included dialogue sessions in which the founding partner of Impact64 Basma Al -Sunaidi, Director of Partnerships Department at the Tuwaiq Renad Al -Kathiri Academy, Vice President for Digital Transformation at Microsoft Zainab Al -Amin, Director of the Government Sector at Google Reem Al -Suleiman, and many girls in technology who made the great impact through their leadership of technical initiatives Pioneer.
The sessions highlighted inspiring success stories, and reviewed the opportunities for entrepreneurship, investment, international representation and training, in a scene that embodies a stimulating national environment to empower women in the digital sector.
The event concluded by honoring the winners in the challenge of international students to program applications in Swift from Apple, in appreciation of their global achievements, and the contributions of Saudi women and their growing position in the digital economy.
