Artificial intelligence in the foreground .. students replace it with the dream of “the doctor” and “the engineer”

Academics, educators, students and their families emphasized that “the superiority of artificial intelligence compared to traditional curricula” is no longer only a conversation, but has turned into an academic fact that acquires the desires of the new generation children with passion and unprecedented curiosity.

They told «Emirates Today» from within the Gulf Education Exhibition “GITEX 2025” that the features of this trend were clearly manifested through the conversations of school students from various emirates of the country, about “algorithms” and “predictive models”, and their relatives’ questions about the best universities that provide specialized programs in artificial intelligence so that their children are enrolled in.

In detail, the Emirates Today polled during a field tour at the GITEX 2025 exhibition, the directions of school students regarding university study and the future specializations they aspire to, most of which exceeded traditional fields, and imagined themselves within an interactive educational environment taught by a smart robot, in which paper exams end in the interest of projects and realistic experiences.

They affirmed their desire that artificial intelligence be a role in directing their academic paths according to their capabilities, and that lectures turn into open innovation laboratories around the clock, sponsoring creativity and not closing their doors. They said that their participation in “GITEX 2025” changed their convictions towards university majors, after they touched the extent of the penetration of artificial intelligence in various fields.

The student, splendor of Iyad, said that she changed the dream of studying medicine after she realized the importance of smart techniques in diagnosis and treatment, saying that the future doctor needs advanced digital tools. Likewise, the student, Basmala Mohamed, changed her view of architecture after she was attracted by the smart design, stressing that the future needs a “digital engineer”.

As for the student, Wael Paradise, she believes that artificial intelligence in medicine opened new horizons, and made her believe that this specialization cannot continue in isolation from technology. The student, Aya Sufyan, stated that she moved from her interest in information technology to cybersecurity -backed by artificial intelligence, and indicated that the current curricula do not keep pace with this progress. While the student Bashir Al -Rawi indicated his adherence to engineering, provided that they are supported by smart technologies.

Student Mansour Al Balushi said that he prefers to study data science and artificial intelligence after noticing his interference with various aspects of life, from cars to agriculture.

Dhu Al -Rashid Manda, Alia Al -Balushi and Iyad Abdullah, asked about the extent of a gap between what their children learn in schools, and what is imposed by the accelerated technical reality of new skills and knowledge, and they emphasized that students’ passion for artificial intelligence specializations is increasing, and these specializations expressing the future language must be the tongue of the classroom, and stressed the importance of developing curricula in cooperation with the technology sector to ensure readiness Next generation.

Terboon confirmed that “GITEX 2025” clearly revealed the students ’technical ambitions and the reality of the current educational environment, as Salem Abdel Hamid, Amal Youssef and Suzan Shawkat, all of whom are technical supervisors in private schools, explained that“ the exhibition launched in the hearts of students great dreams, and they wished that the university reality will accompany these aspirations, so what is required today is the development of curricula accompanying the development of students ’technical skills and thinking Critical ».

They added that the experience demonstrated the interaction of strong students with smart educational environments that depend on artificial intelligence and educational games, while some of them are still tested in traditional halls and in methods far from the spirit of the times, which confirms the need to rethink the methods of education and evaluation.

The CEO of the University of “Synergy Dubai”, Dr. Elia Melnechuk, and computer science professor Dr. Nisreen Amer, who specializes in artificial intelligence, Dr. Sally Hammoud, stressed that the traditional school curricula are unable to prepare students for a university future based on smart technologies.

The academics stressed the urgent need to reformulate the educational curricula from the early stages, and linking them to emerging technologies within a comprehensive vision that is not satisfied with adding artificial intelligence as a subject, but rather establishes an integrated educational system, based on interactive curricula that promote self -learning, and turns the role of the teacher into a wave and facilitator of learning, while rehabilitating teaching cadres to keep pace with the tools of artificial intelligence, Design a digital university environment that allows learning through real experience and interaction.

30 universities

The data of the GITEX 2025 exhibition indicates that more than 30 universities inside and outside the country have provided direct or double academic programs in artificial intelligence sciences, data science, automated learning and cybersecurity associated with smart technologies.
