المملكة: 3 innovative initiatives to reduce waste in a “green homeland” in Dammam
The three initiatives, which were launched during the forum, focus on specific and vital aspects of waste management.
The first initiative, “your computer does not throw it”, aims to address the increasing electronic waste problem, encourage safe disposal and recycle electronic devices instead of throwing them.
As for the second initiative, “Raqa”, it highlights the importance of rationalizing and recycling paper consumption, to reduce pressure on natural resources.
The third initiative
The third initiative, “Ruskla”, comes as a broader umbrella to spread and enhance the culture of recycling of all kinds, and to turn it into a daily practice of community members.
The forum included dialogue sessions under the supervision of the College of Architecture and Planning, and workshops with the participation of the College of Designs and Sciences in addition to a direct artistic presentation of the plastic artist Basma Al -Saqabi, through which environmental values embodied a contemporary artistic vision.
The Vice President of the University for Community Development and Partnership, Prof. Dr. Asim bin Abdul Rahman Al -Ansari, inaugurated the activities of the “Green Watan Tomorrow” forum, which comes within the framework of the university’s commitment to support environmental sustainability and enhance societal awareness.
Environmental innovation
Dr. Al -Ansari pointed out that the Kingdom, under a wise leadership and an ambitious vision, is witnessing a qualitative shift towards adopting innovative and sustainable environmental solutions, in line with the targets of Saudi Vision 2030, stressing that the Kingdom is today a global model in environmental protection and leadership of green initiatives.
He added: “The Kingdom today addresses major environmental challenges such as climate change, desertification and pollution, and we are facing a collective responsibility to keep pace with this transformation and active participation in achieving its goals.”
Community responsibility
Al -Ansari affirmed that Imam Abdul Rahman bin Faisal University puts the environment among its priorities through academic programs and research and societal initiatives that seek to cause a sustainable impact under the umbrella of societal responsibility and sustainability, praising the concrete achievements achieved by the university in the areas of environmental innovation, patents, progress in local and international classifications, as well as building effective partnerships with the public and private sectors and the sector is Profit.
The Director of the Community Partnership Department, Najah Al -Muhaimid, explained that the forum reflects the importance of societal solidarity to achieve environmental development, in which 20 entities from inside and outside the university participated in it, and a green space was allocated within the activities to enhance dialogue on the environment and transform proper environmental practices into a continuous lifestyle.
