The general Gulf inflation rate is 1.7% by the end of December 2024

Muscat in May 18 / WAM / The general inflation rate in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries increased by the end of December 2024, by 1.7% compared to the same month of the previous year, according to consumer price data for the council countries issued by the Gulf Statistics Center.
The increase in the annual Gulf inflation rate is mainly due to the prices of the housing group by 5.9%, the commodity and services group 2.8%, while the increase in the Culture and Entertainment Group reached 1.8%, each of the Food and Beverage Group and the Education Group by 1.2% each and the restaurant and hotels group 1.1% and the health group by 0.1%.
This was due to the decrease in prices in each of the transport group by 2.7%, the group of furniture and home equipment by 1.7%, tobacco by 1.1%, the communication group by 0.9%, and the group of clothing and shoes 0.2%.
The general Gulf inflation rate came less than the inflation rate of the European Union of 2.7%, and it came down from many of the main commercial partners of the Council of the Council in the total merchandise imports, as Brazil recorded the highest inflation rate in December 2024 m compared to the same month in the previous year by 4.8%, followed by Japan with 3.6%, then each of the Republic of India and the United Kingdom with 3.5%, and the United States with 2.9%, Germany by 2.6%, South Korea with 1.9%, France and Italy with 1.3%each, and China by 0.1%.
