"Dubai Roads" : 88% coverage of the public transport bus service for the emirate regions

Dubai, May 18 / WAM / His Excellency Matar Al -Tayer, General Manager and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority, confirmed that the authority’s expansion in employing smart systems and artificial intelligence technologies in the bus sector contributed to raising performance efficiency and achieving integration between the mass transportation system, and the percentage of bus service to the regions of the Emirate of Dubai reached about 88%, by 11 thousand trips per day carried out by 1390 buses that travel approximately 333 A thousand kilometers per day.

He pointed out that the number of users of public transport buses in Dubai, during the year 2024, amounted to about 188 million passengers, an increase of 8% compared to 2023, explaining that the buses transport more than 500 thousand passengers daily, and the accuracy of their arrival at the specified times reached more than 77%.

He explained that the authority has a fleet of 1390 buses working on 187 lines, of which 110 lines are for urban and rural areas, 64 lines to feed metro stations, and 13 lines for transportation between cities, as well as seasonal lines dedicated to serving major events such as the global village site.

Al -Tayer revealed that the authority will implement a plan this year to expand the paths designated for buses and taxis, including the creation of six new tracks with a length of 13 km, bringing the total length of these tracks to 20 km.

He pointed out that this expansion contributes to increasing the number of passengers in the surrounding areas by 10%, improving the rate of bus access by 42%, reducing the flight time by 41%, and that the authority launched nine “Express” high lines during the past year, and nine additional lines to feed metro stations, and four new lines to serve the areas with high demand on taxi vehicles, as well as the priority system of crossing buses at the signals at the signals Traffic in crowded intersections, which improved the time of buses by up to 12%.

He pointed out that the authority established modern buses for buses with typical designs that combine engineering efficiency and the modern system for serving mass transportation, taking into account the integration of transportation and facilitating pedestrian access, bicycle workers and people of determination, which contributes to enhancing the interconnection between the transport stations and the surrounding areas, especially within the concept of the first and last tendency.

And that the bus fleet is characterized by international specifications that are compatible with European standards “Euro 6”, to reduce carbon emissions, and includes advanced equipment that include comfortable seats, low entrances to facilitate passenger movement, and sites prepared to serve the owners of determination, which enhances the quality of service and encourages residents to use mass transportation.

He stressed that the mass transportation system in Dubai includes the metro, tram, buses, taxis and maritime transportation, represents the backbone of the movement of movement within the emirate, pointing out that the strategic and executive plans of the authority depend on the principle of integration between various means, in addition to developing infrastructure and supporting facilities, and applying motivational policies to reduce dependence on private vehicles, enhance sustainability and efficiency Mobility in various regions of Dubai.
