Saqr Ghobash discusses with the Speaker of the Senegalese Parliament ways to enhance parliamentary relations

Abu Dhabi, May 19 / WAM / His Excellency Saqr Ghobash, President of the Federal National Council with His Excellency Malik Anjai, President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Senegal “Parliament”, at the headquarters of the Council in Abu Dhabi, discussed ways to enhance the relations of parliamentary cooperation between the two sides, by exchanging visits and enhancing coordination and consultation regarding various issues of common concern, especially in terms of activating and supporting bilateral relations between the two sides.

The meeting was attended by His Excellency Saeed Al -Abedi, Mona Hammad, members of the Federal National Council, and His Excellency Dr. Omar Al -Nuaimi, Secretary -General of the Federal National Council.

At the beginning of the meeting, His Excellency Saqr Ghobash welcomed His Excellency Malik Anjai, President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Senegal, and his accompanying delegation, and stressed the importance of historical brotherly relations that link the two countries and the two friendly peoples, indicating that these bilateral relations are characterized by durability and great compatibility towards the various issues raised on the regional and international arena, which reflected positively in mutual support to support the nominations of the two countries in regional forums And international.

The two sides stressed the importance of strengthening aspects of parliamentary cooperation and coordination between the two friendly councils, and the unification of positions, visions and trends on various issues of common concern in various regional and international parliamentary forums, in a way that keeps pace with strong and growing relations between the UAE and the Republic of Senegal and in the interest of the two friendly countries and peoples.

His Excellency Saqr Ghobash pointed to the strength of political and diplomatic relations between the two countries, which were manifested in mutual official visits and identical situations in many forums, which represent an advanced model for friendly friendship and cooperation, as the two countries bring together close and growing relations based on solidarity and common interests, pointing to the importance of building on these distinguished relations to expand areas of cooperation in various fields.

His Excellency said that the UAE and its wise leadership are looking at an appreciation of the Senegalese experience in development, coexistence and building institutions, as Senegal represents today one of the most stable countries in West Africa.

His Excellency affirmed the Federal National Council’s keenness to strengthen the partnership with the countries of the continent, and this concern reflects the membership of the Council as an observer in the African Parliament since 2019, in addition to signing a memorandum of understanding and cooperation with the African Group in the International Parliamentary Union, which includes 51 countries.

His Excellency pointed to the role of the Parliamentary Friendship Committee between the Federal National Council and the National Assembly in the friendly Republic of Senegal in strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries and the two friendly peoples in various vital fields, and expanding the horizons of strategic partnership in the fields and sectors of common concern, especially in the fields of investment, economic, tourism and development, in a way that supports the economic, investment and development agenda of the two friendly countries.

In turn, His Excellency Malik Anjai stressed the importance of the relations that link the two countries and the two friendly peoples, and the importance of enhancing joint cooperation in various fields, stressing the strength of the bilateral relations that link the UAE and Senegal.

His Excellency also expressed his appreciation for the positive attitudes of the UAE in international issues, and its efforts that contribute positively to achieving international stability.
