The Emirates Climate Work Alliance holds the 3th meeting of the Consulting Committee

Abu Dhabi, May 28/ WAM/ The Emirates Climate Work Alliance held, the leading national program for NGOs led by the Emirates Nature Association and with the support of the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment, the third meeting of the Advisory Committee, with the participation of a group of leaders and officials, to discuss what has been completed so far and draw future directions for the initiatives in 2025.
The meeting witnessed the announcement of the official joining of the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure to the membership of the Consulting Committee.
The meeting was chaired by His Excellency Razan Khalifa Al Mubarak, President of the International Federation for the Protection of Nature, Director General of the Mohammed bin Zayed Fund to preserve species, which stressed in her speech the importance of multi -sectors cooperation to meet the challenges of climate change.
Her Excellency said that the UAE alliance of climate action is to motivate NGOs and enhance dialogue between various sectors, to discover aspects of cooperation and determine initiatives that can accelerate climate work.
She added that non -governmental authorities, including private companies, are a key partner in achieving climatic goals at the federal level and the level of the emirate, calling on more organizations to join the alliance and cooperation in finding innovative solutions, which would achieve significant discounts in emissions at the state level.
The alliance’s advisory committee includes a number of prominent leaders from government, financial, industrial, environmental and academic sectors, among them Laila Mustafa Abdel Latif, Director General of the Emirates Association for Nature, His Excellency Dr. Al Anoud Al Hajj, Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Green Development and Climate Change in the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment, Mohamed Al Marzouki, CEO of the Emirates HSBC Bank, and the Sheikh of Al Mazrouei, Executive Director of the Sector Integrated environmental planning and environmental policies in the Environment Authority – Abu Dhabi, His Excellency Eng. Sherif Al -Alami, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure for Energy and Petroleum Affairs, in addition to Dr. Stephen Griffiths, Vice President of the Scientific Research Department at the American University in Sharjah, Dr. Laila Hattit, the first partner and administrative director of the Boston Conseling Group, and Dr. Nasser Saidi, Chairman of the Clean Energy Business Council.
The committee discussed the updated version of the “Road2.0” initiative, which aims to accelerate the removal of carbon from the commercial transport sector in the country. The initiative has achieved a qualitative achievement by launching the “Declaration of demand for electric vehicles” that was directed to the relevant authorities in the electrical transportation system, and it was signed by 17 entities where the advertisement determines coordination steps to accelerate the accreditation of electric commercial vehicles within ambitious goals that include the deployment of 20,000 vehicles free from Emissions by 2040.
Engineer Sharif Al -Alami said that the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure continues its efforts to support the shift towards electric vehicles, through stimulating policies and legislation and promoting national infrastructure, the most prominent of which is the establishment of the Emirates Company for Women of Electric Vehicles (UAEV), which is a strategic step towards expanding the shipping network and facilitating the adoption, indicating that through initiatives such as “Road2.0” and in partnership with the private sector we are working to empower A system that supports the shift to green movement, especially in the commercial vehicle sector, and we are proud to cooperate with the UAE alliance of climate work to achieve sustainable results that keep pace with the aspirations of the state.
For his part, Mohamed Al Marzouqi said that coordination and cooperation between leaders and organizations from various economic sectors constitute a pivotal element in achieving the UAE goal by reaching climate neutrality, and through the role of the UAE bank “HSBC” as a donor and an institution for the UAE alliance for climate action we are keen to collect active parties to exchange knowledge and face challenges, and explore effective local solutions that contribute to reducing emissions and creating opportunities Economic.
For its part, Laila Mustafa Abdel -Latif said that the coalition provides a reliable platform for non -governmental bodies to take influential steps towards strengthening ambition and climate work, and after three years of its founding the coalition has 55 NGOs adopting scientific goals that support the Paris Agreement, and by relying on its strategic pillars, strengthening the institutional readiness to remove carbon and call for adopting supportive policies, indicating that The coalition continues its role as a major platform for climate work in the country.
The UAE coalition also continues to invite NGOs to join its efforts and contribute to raising the level of national ambition to remove carbon in support of the state’s endeavors towards climate neutrality.
