“FIFA” adopts innovative techniques with artificial intelligence in the 2025 Club World Cup

FIFA announced the adoption of a package of leading technical innovations in the 2025 Club World Cup, including Al Ain Club, with the aim of enhancing the experience of the fans, raising the level of transparency in arbitration, and improving the efficiency of organizational operations during the tournament.

The new innovations include the use of cameras installed on the bodies of referees, after the approval of the International Football Association Council (IFAB), where the video clips will be used during the live broadcast, to provide a new vision for the fans from the angle of the referee, which contributes to improving the understanding of the course of the game, provided that the results of this experiment are employed to develop future instructions to use this type of camera.

The footage of the ruling will also be broadcast on the giant screens inside the stadiums, to enable the fans to follow up the details of the arbitration decisions during the field review, in order to enhance the clarity of the procedures and reflect the commitment of “FIFA” to transparency.
The event is witnessing the application of a developed version of the semi -automatic infiltration technique, dependent on artificial intelligence, a sensor within the ball and several cameras to accurately determine the positions of the players, and send immediate notifications to the referees, with the continued role of the assistant referee in complex cases.
For the first time, advanced algorithms will be used to analyze the live data of matches, through a partnership with “Football Technology Center”, as well as the use of tablets to manage the switches instead of paper models, with the aim of accelerating the processes and improving coordination between the difference and rulers.

Matisse Grafrom, Secretary -General of “FIFA”, stressed that these innovations reflect the Federation’s commitment to football through technology, a more smooth experience for the fans, and the improvement of an environment for the arbitration decision.

Pierlawiji Kulina, Chairman of the Referees Committee of “FIFA”, also expressed his confidence that these updates will contribute to enhancing the fans’ understanding of the arbitration decisions, and consolidating the championship status as a platform for innovation.
