145 university hospitals formed a major pillar in the health care system in Egypt

Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, stressed that the university hospital system witnessed an unprecedented leap during the fiscal year 2024/2025, thanks to the great interest that the Egyptian state and its political leadership attaches to the development of the health care sector, and improving the quality of services provided to citizens. The minister to the Ministry’s keenness to update university hospitals by providing extensive educational and training programs; To upgrade the skills of medical and nursing cadres, and provide the latest medical techniques; To ensure patients get the best available treatments, as well as focus on inter -specialized specializations, and work on digitizing all the services provided in university hospitals, in order to facilitate the procedures for patients, and improve work efficiency. EGP 2014 to 28 billion pounds in 2023, stressing that the number of university hospitals reached 145, of which 52 hospitals specialized in the fields of tumor treatment, mental health addiction treatment, women’s health, elderly medicine, clinical toxins, emergency, digestive and liver, children, ophthalmology, kidney disease, urinary tract surgery, one -day surgery, women, obstetrics, and obstetrics, Cardiac, vascular and blood vessels, these hospitals include 30% of the total health care family in government facilities, and 50% of the total intensive care family in the government sector, and this diversity contributes to meeting the different needs of patients, and providing comprehensive health care at a high level.

& nbsp; University hospitals were received during the year 2024 & ndash; 2025 approximately 25 million patients, more than 6,20440 surgeries were performed in various medical specialties, of which 350 thousand operations need high skill and special techniques, and 220 robotic surgery, of which (40) surgery for children, and the provision of dialysis service for approximately 588 thousand hematoma, and university hospitals provide these services thanks to their possession of 34618 beds, 5254 beds for care Concentrated and medium, 896 specialized nursery for newborn, noting that these achievements are a certificate on university hospital efficiency, and their commitment to providing the best health care for citizens. Infrastructure and quality of services, this included the development of 33 hospitals and the implementation of 127 projects to raise efficiency. Among the most prominent projects are the opening of the liver transplant center at Mansoura University, the largest medical center in the Middle East and Africa at a cost of one billion pounds, and the establishment of the university hospital in Suez at a cost of 2.4 billion pounds, which includes 17 clinics, 15 operating rooms, 260 beds, in addition to specialized units, such as: dialysis, intensive care, as the medical city was developed at a university Ain Shams at a cost of 10 billion pounds, with the addition of new units, such as: nurseries of pasteurized children, increased intensive care family, and in Smouha University Hospital, and the Vascular Catheter Unit, and the cardiac care unit equipped with the latest technologies, and in Al -Mouwasat Hospital, the Manchester building was opened to study medicine and surgery in cooperation with the University of Manchester, and several other units were developed in 5 video hospitals via videos, such as: Unit of Ophthalmology surgery Children, hearing and balance center; Which contributed to improving the capacity and quality of medical services. And oncology initiatives, pointing to the tremendous achievement achieved by university hospitals in the framework of efforts to eliminate waiting lists in the presidential project to eliminate waiting lists in hospitals, where 414395 cases were treated with an achievement rate of 80%, in many medical specialties, and the most prominent of these specialties: (Oncology, orthopedics, eye surgery, kidney transplant, liver transplantation, brain surgery Nerves, vascular surgery, peripheral catheter, open heart, cochlear cultivation, heart catheter, brain catheter), in addition to the active participation of university hospitals in 12 governorates in presidential initiatives for early discovery, treatment of cancerous tumors, such as: & quot; women’s health, early breast cancer detection, prostate cancer, colon cancer, and neck cancer The uterus, lung cancer, colon cancer. Diagnostic initiative to provide medical services for remote areas, and university hospitals provided 81044 medical consultations, and launched 535 medical convoys, which benefited 303469 cases, and 22 university hospitals organized an awareness campaign on the occasion of & quot; pink October & quot; For early detection of breast cancer, noting that in the context of enhancing the Egyptian -German scientific cooperation in the field of tumor therapy, Dr. Ayman Ashour visited leading German university centers, such as: Siemens Healthters Company and the Freiburg University Center for Oncology, where it has been discussed on activating cooperation in the areas of early detection, treatment and integrated care according to international standards, and the focus was also on the development of infrastructure Improving training programs for medical cadres to meet the needs of the local and international market; In order to develop the oncology sector in Egypt and Africa, to begin activating cooperation with the opening of the National Institute of New Oncology in 2025.

& nbsp; To improve the quality of the medical services provided, as well as signing cooperation protocols with the Ministry of Health and Population and the Directorate of Health Affairs in Dakahlia Governorate, as well as a cooperation protocol was signed with the General Secretariat of Mental Health, and includes cooperation in the field of training, scientific research and addiction treatment; To enhance cooperation and exchange of experiences in the medical field, in addition to signing a protocol with the General Authority for Accreditation and Supervision, cooperation in training quality and initial evaluation teams includes in preparation for the fulfillment of university hospitals for the requirements for obtaining accreditation (GAHAR).
