The guide constitutes a comprehensive scientific reference, based on the latest research and international studies, as it was prepared by a multidisciplinary national team that includes a group of experts from various health authorities in the country in the fields of public health, nutrition, endocrine and surgery diseases according to best international practices and with a specialized international expert, to support the speed of transformation towards a healthy and balanced community through thoughtful and effective solutions to combat obesity, by providing health professionals With practical guidelines and innovative solutions based on proofs that enable them to direct community members to manage their weight in scientific and safe ways, as the evidence focuses on promoting a comprehensive community health culture and directing society towards adopting healthy lifestyles through improving eating habits, and increasing physical activity as essential pillars to prevent obesity and its complications.

The assistant undersecretary for the public health sector, Dr. Hussein Al -Rand, stressed that the launch of this guide comes within the framework of a qualitative strategy towards improving the quality of life and public health in the state, through the joining of efforts between individuals and the policymakers, legislation, governmental and private institutions, the media, and food manufacturers.

He added: The ministry is making vital efforts with partners in the health sector to achieve the vision of the community of society towards the sustainable growth of individuals and families, and to consolidate a supportive healthy environment by encouraging individuals to adopt a healthy and sustainable lifestyle, and organize training workshops for medical cadres to ensure the optimal application, along with comprehensive awareness campaigns to reduce obesity rates by providing comprehensive solutions that are effective and innovative, and corresponding to The aspirations of the National Life Quality Strategy 2031, and the vision of “We UAE 2031”, indicating that the National Survey of Health and Nutrition includes measuring the obesity rate among adults, and its results are a major directive of the future plans and programs in the future.

For its part, the head of the Department of noncommunicable diseases and mental health in the ministry, Dr. Buthaina Bin Balila, said that obesity is a chronic disease that contributes to the incidence of many noncommunicable diseases such as type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, and some types of cancer, pointing out that dealing with obesity requires the adoption of a comprehensive lifestyle, which includes sustainable behavioral and nutritional adjustments, so this guide will be published extensive A pivotal step in achieving the Ministry’s goals in combating obesity, and we believe that its success depends on teamwork between the various health authorities and the entire society.
