"Dubai Roads" It opens a tunnel on Umm Suqeim Street, which reduces the flight time of 61 %

Dubai, August 3 / WAM / The Roads and Transport Authority in Dubai opened a tunnel with a length of 800 meters, with a capacity of four tracks in each direction, within the project of developing Umm Saqim Street, which extends from its intersection with Al -Khail Street to its intersection with Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Street, where the project serves many residential and developmental areas, whose population is estimated at more than a million people.

The project comes within the framework of the authority’s efforts to develop the infrastructure of the road network, to keep pace with the continuous development witnessed in the Emirate of Dubai, to absorb the needs of urban development and population growth, and to enhance the flow of traffic.

His Excellency Matar Al -Tayer, Director General and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Authority, said that the project to develop Umm Suqeim Street, extends from its intersection with Al -Khail Street to its intersection with Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Street, with a length of 4.6 km, and included the development of the intersection of Umm Suqeim Street with Al -Bardaqa Street in the south, specifically near the Kings School, where a tunnel was created with a length of 800 meters, with a capacity of four tracks in each direction on Umm Saqim Street, and the creation of a superficial intersection governed by a signal Environment.

His Excellency stressed that the completed project is part of a comprehensive plan to develop the Umm Suqim axis – Al -Qudra, which extends from its intersection with Jumeirah Street, until its intersection with Emirates Street, with a total length Dubai, it is Sheikh Zayed Street, Al Khail Street, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Street and Emirates Street, and increase the capacity of the street to reach 16,000 vehicles per hour in both directions, achieve the smooth flow of traffic, and reduce the flight time in the part that extends between Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed and horses, by 61%, as it decreases from 9.7 minutes to 3.8 minutes, and serves many residential and developmental areas, the most important of which are Al -Barsha regions, south, second and second, Dubai Hills, Arjan and Dubai Science Complex, with an estimated population of more than a million people.

His Excellency the General Manager and Chairman of the Board of Directors explained that the authority used in the project of developing Umm Suqeim Street the latest smart technologies in following up the road projects in the emirate, where (the drone) was used to analyze data for the progress of work in the project, by employing artificial intelligence to follow up on the progress of the work, as this technology contributed to raising the efficiency of operations in construction sites and the speed of decisions, and providing direct information and with high accuracy, and raising the level of field attendance by 100%, Reducing the time taken for field surveys by 60%.

The technique of filming the time separation (Time Bus) was also used to follow up on the progress of work in the construction sites around the clock, which contributed to raising the efficiency of follow -up by 40%.

It should be noted that the Roads and Transport Authority, in 2013, completed the first phase of the project to develop Umm Suqeim Street, in the part between Sheikh Zayed Street and Al -Khail Street, and included the implementation of two bridges with a capacity of three tracks in each direction, the first cuts the eastern street parallel to Al -Asayel Street, and the second cuts the western street parallel to the first horse street, in addition to creating two intersections with light signals at the intersections of Umm Suqeim Street with Al -Asayel Street and the first horse Street, in addition to The implementation of three infantry bridges on Umm Saqim Street, to facilitate the transit of pedestrians between the Al -Quoz and Al -Barasa regions.

In 2020, the authority opened within the bridges and roads project for (Dubai Hills Mall), a major bridge along Umm Saqim Street at its intersection with the entrance to the Dubai Hills and Barshah regions south, with a length of 500 meters, with a capacity of four tracks in each direction, and a capacity of 16,000 vehicles per hour in both directions.
