Flexible plans to fortify the “identity” platform in front of future technologies

The Director of the First Administration, the Department of Digital Empowerment Platforms at the Dubai Digital Authority, in the fourth batch of the Emirates Experts Program, Mira Sultan, revealed a series of measures to fortify the digital identity platform “UAE Pass” in front of future technologies, such as quantum computing, obstetric artificial intelligence and “sloppy confidence”.

Mira Sultan told «Emirates Today»: “We manage the development of the digital identity platform according to the product management approach that focuses on fitness and continuous development, and is based on the principle of (work vice versa), where we always start from understanding the needs of the customer and its expectations, and we build about the technical solutions and the required functions, and this approach ensures that the platform remains flexible, close to reality, and quickly responds to changes in the behavior of the user and the surrounding techniques.”

She added: «In this context, we constantly monitor technical developments at various levels, and systematically study the extent of the readiness of the digital identity and its infrastructure to keep pace with these transformations, whether in terms of adopting new technologies or preparing for the challenges that may impose them, on the level of post -quantum algorithms, we follow international trends and put plans to move towards resistant algorithms to ensure the protection of the platform in the future, but in the field of Obstest artificial intelligence, so we consider in cases of use at two levels: Improving the experience of the customer through smart interaction and customization, and supporting operational management through automation and pre -emptive analyzes, all within governance frameworks that protect privacy and enhance safety.

And she continued: «We also work to expand the application of structural principles (Zero Trust) through continuous verification, restriction of contextual access, and accurate behavioral monitoring, and through this mix of technical proactivity, operational grace, and centered around man, we guarantee that (digital identity) remains a flexible and safe national platform, capable of adapting confidence with a changing and accelerated digital future.

She said: «When we started activating the biometric verification mechanism through the facial fingerprint, we touched a fundamental change in the behavior of users, we have witnessed a significant and accelerated increase in the number of registered people in digital identity, which exceeded our expectations and changed our initial conviction, and the dealers did not hesitate to experience the new technology, but rather interacted with it positively, considering that it facilitates them to reach services and enhance safety and reliability.

She pointed out that this behavioral change was exceptionally manifested during the elections of the Federal National Council for the year 2023, where two options were made for the public to vote, either the personal presence to the voting centers, or the vote from a distance through the digital identity using the face fingerprint, and the surprise was that the vast majority of the participants chose the digital vote, in a clear indication of the audience’s confidence in the technology and their willingness to interact With advanced digital solutions, explaining that this experiment was not only successful at the local level, but also a pioneering step at the global level in the field of digital voting based on biometric verification, and an important turning point in our trend towards expanding the scope of the face fingerprint use, not only as a technique that is achieved, but as a main empowerment tool in the comprehensive digital transformation as well.

On the role that Dubai digital play to provide its services to the public, Mira Sultan said: “Dubai is focused on the leadership of digital transformation in the emirate through its strategy to make Dubai a global digital capital, by building an integrated digital government without papers, and providing advanced digital infrastructure that enables government agencies to provide smooth, safe and effective services.”

She added: “Dubai digital contributes to enabling individuals to complete their government transactions easily through applications such as (Dubai Now), and at the same time support government agencies with advanced solutions that include cloud hosting, linking and network services, and data exchange platforms, which enhances integration and innovation and contributes to raising the efficiency of government operations and improving the quality of the lives of Dubai residents and visitors.”

As for the role of the UAE expert program in supporting the efforts of digital transformation, Mira Sultan confirmed that the UAE expert program plays a pivotal role in supporting the efforts of the UAE in enabling national competencies and preparing qualified experts who are able to cause an impact on various vital sectors, by focusing on five leadership mentalities: global, executive, analytical, contemplative, and cooperative, noting that the strength of these mentalities is that they do not It is related to a specific sector, but rather applies to various vital sectors in the country, including digital transformation, public policies, health, sustainability, and others.

She added that «the skills that we have acquired and practical tools in light of the UAE’s strategy aimed at (be bureaucracy) will contribute to supporting the state’s efforts to redesign services, simplify procedures, and improve the experience of the customer in an innovative, effective and humanitarian way free from bureaucracy, and thus the program is a national platform for the industry of future leaders who are able to lead change and achieve the UAE’s aspirations to be a pioneering government without complexity.”
