Dubai Municipality is completing a qualitative project to develop 3 tourist traditional paths in Deira markets

Dubai, August 24 / WAM / Dubai Municipality announced the completion of a qualitative heritage project in the Deira Markets area, which included the development of three tourist traditional tracks of 1,784 meters in the heart of the large market at a cost of approximately 9.5 million dirhams.
The project aims to preserve the historical nature of traditional markets and enhance visitors’ experience, while supporting local economic activity for more than 500 stores, within its continuous efforts to preserve the historical cultural and architectural identity of Dubai and enhance its tourism attractiveness, and highlight its ancient civilizational legacy of the emirate.
The project is integrated with the project of protecting modern heritage sites and buildings in Dubai, which aims to preserve its identity and urban and urban heritage, and consolidate the position of Dubai as a global cultural destination, in addition to its liability with the targets And consolidating it as part of the national identity of the emirate.
The three tracks that Dubai Municipality have improved include the gold market path with a length of 995 meters, the heritage axis of the Ahmadiyya School with a length of 430 meters, and the spices market axis with a length of 359 meters, and these tracks extend over a total area of 25,800 square meters.
About 500 stores will benefit from the project that covers 7 major traditional markets that include; Al -Dawawi Market, Spices, Persons, Perfumes, Motorb, Makhryer, and Views, in addition to the gold market and Ahmadiyya area, where it links heritage markets and surrounding historical sites, which enriches the visitor’s experience and creates an integrated atmosphere that mixes the tourism and cultural experience, shopping and exploring the heritage attractions of the emirate.
In a related context, the public paths and squares were rehabilitated and furnished in a way that reflects the authentic spirit of Dubai, and at the same time provides the highest comfort standards for visitors, as improvements included the installation of fabric umbrellas with an area of 210 square meters, and a new umbrella behind the Bin Nayem Mosque with an area of 200 square meters, and also included improving lighting for shops, installing 38 guiding panels on the columns, and 154 drawings Guidance on the floors, with the improvement and unification of the floors with an area of 770 square meters, in addition to preparing three squares, each containing seats that accommodate more than ten people.
Dubai Municipality was keen to use local traditional materials such as; Carrings in the restoration of buildings and markets to ensure the sustainability of the inherent character, with the restoration of wooden umbrellas and the maintenance of open areas to provide rain protection and enhance the aesthetic of the markets.
