Partnership between "Economy and tourism" And the Dubai Science Agency to promote intellectual property protection

Dubai, August 29/ WAM/ The Ministry of Economy and Tourism has signed a memorandum of understanding, with the Dubai Science Complex, the leading destination in the region for the most prominent international and regional science companies affiliated with the Tecom Group, with the aim of enhancing cooperation in the field of intellectual property protection and patent registration.

The memorandum was signed, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Economy and Tourism in Dubai, by the Ministry, His Excellency Dr. Abdul Rahman Hassan Al -Muaini, Assistant Undersecretary for the Intellectual Property Sector, while it was signed by the Tikom Marwan Abdulaziz Janahi Group, First Vice President of the Tikom Group – Dubai Science Complex, Dubai Knowledge Council and Dubai International Academic City.

The strategic partnership aims to provide legal and technical support to the existing companies at the Dubai Science and Specialized Business Complex of the Tikom Group, which contributes to the consolidation of an incubating environment for creativity and stimulating the knowledge economy in the UAE.

Cooperation comes within the framework of the Ministry’s efforts towards enhancing institutional cooperation and integrating roles between various governmental and private agencies, in a way that supports the achievement of national targets in innovation and creativity, and contributes to consolidating the state’s position in the areas of intellectual property rights protection and motivating innovation.

According to the memo, the Ministry of Economy and Tourism and the Dubai Science Game to organize awareness campaigns, specialized workshops and training courses to raise awareness of intellectual property, as well as launch initiatives aimed at providing innovators with the support necessary to protect their inventions and marketing them in local and global markets.

This partnership will contribute to the promotion of the recorded patents, through cooperation with related local and international bodies.

The Ministry will provide technical and legal advisory services to the owners of existing companies at the Dubai Science Complex and the specialized business group of the Tikom Group.

These services include accelerating the pace of procedures for checking and evaluating their patent requests, and promoting patents registered with local companies, and linking them to investment opportunities through relevant national and international exhibitions, conferences and events.

His Excellency Abdul Rahman Al -Muaini stressed the ministry’s keenness to develop the national innovation system and enhance the capabilities of the state in the areas of intellectual property protection, through partnership with the leading business complexes in supporting entrepreneurs and innovators, and building an effective cooperation network with its various partners from the governmental and private sectors, to ensure the protection of the rights of creators and inventors within the state, and to provide a legislative and institutional environment that keeps pace with the requirements of growth in its economic -based economic model And innovation.

He said that the memorandum with the Tikom Group allows the provision of legal and technical support to corporate owners within its business complexes, and to contribute to accelerating the examination of patent requests and marketing them at the local and global levels, in order to enhance the economic value of national innovations.

For his part, Marwan Abdel Aziz Janahi affirmed that the protection of intellectual property is one of the necessary steps to stimulate innovation, as the UAE continues its firm commitment to empowering creative energies, which contributes to attracting the brightest minds from around the world.

He said that the goal of partnership with the ministry is to significantly enhance research and development activities, support and develop local talents that contribute to reaching innovations with a global impact, in light of the concern through our specialized and leading groups to attract exceptional talents to contribute to our ambitious path to achieve sustainable growth and development.

Cooperation aims to support the UAE’s efforts to convert innovations into feasible economic products, in order to enhance the competitiveness of the knowledge -based business environment.

This comes in light of the growth of patent registration activity in the country, as the Ministry of Economy and Tourism recorded 1221 patents during the period from January to July 2025, compared to 466 patents in the same period last year, and the Ministry also received 2430 new requests to register a patent during the same period of this year, compared to 1996 requests during the corresponding period of 2024, which reflects the growing community awareness The founder is the value of intellectual property protection as one of the new economies engines.

It should be noted that the Dubai Science Academy provides an integrated scientific system for more than 500 customers from the most prominent international and regional companies, including “Astrazzinica”, “Beijing” and “Pfizer”, in which 6,500 experts specialize in the sectors of life, energy and the environment.

This leading destination offers a wide range of first -class office spaces, pioneering certificate laboratories in the “LeED” energy designs, storage facilities and integrated logistics services at the highest standards.

The Dubai Science Complex is one of the ten specialized business complexes of the Tikom Group, which includes Dubai Internet City, Dubai Media City, Dubai Studio City, Dubai Production City, Dubai Knowledge Council, Dubai International Academy City, Dubai Design and Dubai Industrial City.
